9/15/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 8 (41-26, 77-63)  Rochester 4 (29-36, 63-75)

Rochester, NY - Innovative Field


Summary :


Drew Ellis walked and Cal Stevenson singled in the third inning, Kody Clemens hit a three run home run.


Three walks, a stolen base and three singles scored four runs for Rochester in the fourth inning.


Kody Clemens homered in the fifth inning.


Drew Ellis singled in the seventh inning, Cal Stevenson and Weston Wilson walked to load the bases.  Darick Hall singled to score two runs.  Wilson then scored on a fielding error.


Esteban Quiroz walked in the eighth, went to second on a single by Cal Stevenson and scored on a single by Kody Clemens.


On the Hill :


Nick Nelson pitched three and one third innings, four runs, seven hits, three walks, two strikeouts. Brett Schulze pitched two thirds of an inning, no runs, one walk, one strikeout - one of three inherited runners scored.  Hector Perez pitched an inning and two thirds, no runs, one hit, three walks, one strikeout.  Taylor Lehman went an inning and a third, no runs or hits, two strikeouts.

Ben Bowden finished, two scoreless innings, one hit, six strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Kody Clemens had three hits (single and two home runs) and five RBIs. Darick Hall and Cal Stevenson each had two hits.

Summary :


A walk and triple scored a run for Binghamton in the sixth inning.


Ethan Wilson singled in the seventh inning, four consecutive walks scored two runs.


On the Hill :


David Parkinson pitched five innings, one run, six hits, three walks, eighth strikeouts.  Erich Uelmen pitched a perfect inning, two strikeouts.  Hans Crouse threw a scoreless inning, one walk, two strikeouts.  McKinley Moore struck out the side in a perfect eighth inning. Jordi Martinez closed it out with a scoreless ninth inning, one walk, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


The team was held to three singles, Marcus Lee Sang walked three times, Madison Stokes and Nick Ward each walked twice.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) Playoffs Game Three - Hudson Valley 3 Jersey Shore 2 (Hudson Valley wins series 2-1)

Wappingers Falls, NY - Heritage Financial Park


Summary :


Otto Kemp doubled in the first inning and scored on a single by Felix Reyes.


Ben Cowles tripled in the bottom of the first and scored on a wild pitch for Hudson Valley.


A double, walk and RBI single (Ben Cowles) scored a run for Hudson Valley in the bottom of the second inning.


Hudson Valley’s Rafael Flores doubled on a misplayed yet well placed fly ball down the right field line in the bottom of the fourth, he advanced to second on a bunt single and scored on a sac fly to left field that left fielder Jared Carr made a spectacular diving catch on.


Felix Reyes tripled to right field in the sixth inning and scored on a single by Leandro Pineda.


The BlueClaws loaded the bases in the eighth inning with one out but could not score.


With the win Hudson Valley moves on to the league championship series where they will face Greenville (Red Sox).


On the Hill :


Rafael Marcano pitched three and one third innings, three runs, five hits, three walks, three strikeouts.  Konnor Ash pitched two thirds of an inning, no runs, two walks, he stranded an inherited runner.   Jack Dallas pitched three perfect innings, two strikeouts.  Jason Ruffcorn pitched a perfect eighth inning, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Felix Reyes had three hits (single, double and triple) and was walked intentionally.  Otto Kemp had two hits (single & double).

Florida State League ( Low A ) Playoffs Game Three - Clearwater 2 Lakeland 1 (Clearwater wins series 2 to 1)

Clearwater , FL - BayCare Ballpark


Summary :


Emaarion Boyd singled in the third inning and scored when Aidan Miller hit his first professional home run!


A single, wild pitch and single scored a run for Lakeland in the fourth inning.


Lakeland loaded the bases with one out in the ninth inning on two walks and a single but Josh Bortka rolled a 6-4-3 double play to end the game!


With the win Clearwater advances to the Florida State League Championship series where they will face Jupiter (Marlins) on Sunday to begin a best of three face off for the title!


On the Hill :


Jonathan Petit went four innings, one run, two hits, two walks, six strikeouts.  Braeden Fausnaught pitched one and two third innings, no runs, one hit, two walks, two strikeouts. Saul Teran pitched two innings, no runs or hits, one walk, three strikeouts.  Josh Bortka closed it with one and one third scoreless innings, one hit, two walks and one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Aidan Miller (single and home run) and Emaarion Boyd each had two hits.



Notes :


Right fielder Raylin Heredia was in the original starting lineup but was scratched due to illness.
