CARLOS SALAS SELECTED AS 2026 DALLAS GREEN AWARD WINNER

Phillies Coordinator, Latin America Carlos Salas has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the Dallas Green Award, the club announced today.

Salas joined the Phillies in 2007 as an area scout in Venezuela, overseeing the Occidente region. Promoted to his current position in 2017, he has also served as supervisor, Venezuela and supervisor, Dominican Republic during his time with the organization. Since joining the Phillies, Salas has helped sign Johan Rojas, Felix Reyes and 2026 Dominican Summer League Most Valuable Player Francisco Renteria, who is currently ranked as the team’s No. 3 prospect and the No. 78 prospect in all of baseball by MLB.com.

“Winning the Dallas Green Award means a lot to me,” said Salas. “I had the fortune of meeting Dallas and spending time with him during one of our organizational meetings. He was a legend on and off the field. He taught you that every player is different, but the ones who have character, work ethic and heart can make a huge difference in building a winning team. I feel incredibly honored to receive this award. It is something truly special for me and my family.”

The 2026 Dallas Green Award will be presented on the field on Thursday, Sept. 24, prior to the 6:05 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The award was established in 2011 to honor the accomplishments of Green, who spent 62 years in professional baseball, 46 of which were with the Phillies. Green passed away in March 2017 at the age of 82.

The award is presented annually to an amateur or professional scout who best exemplifies the Phillies’ standard for scouting while demonstrating the same loyalty, work ethic, dedication and passion as the award’s namesake. It is also recognition of the scout’s ability to judge not only a player’s talent, but also his character and heart.

“In his 19 years with the Phillies organization, Carlos has been an outstanding example of what it truly means to be a Philadelphia Phillie,” said Derrick Chung, Phillies director, international scouting. “Dedicated, loyal, humble and resilient, he has been a tireless leader and mentor to our scouts throughout Latin America. Carlos has been an integral part of our Latin American scouting operation, driven by his passion for finding the next special player who embodies what it means to be a Phillie on and off the field. He is a great teammate, an exceptional role model and a true representative of the values of our scouting group. We are proud to recognize Carlos as this year’s recipient of the Dallas Green Award.”

Past winners of the Dallas Green Award have been Dick Lawlor (2011), Bill Harper (2012), Eddie Bockman (2013), Gordon Lakey (2014), Sal Agostinelli (2015), Roy Tanner (2016), Joey Davis (2017), Jesús “Chalao” Méndez (2018), Mike Stauffer (2019), Darrell Conner (2021), Zach Friedman (2022), Dean Albany (2023), Brian Kohlscheen (2024) and Tommy Field (2025). The award was not given in 2020.
