BRYAN RINCON AND CODY BOWKER EARN ORGANIZATIONAL HONORS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST
Reading infielder Bryan Rincon and Reading right-handed pitcher Cody Bowker have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for August.
Rincon, 22, played in 25 games for double-A Reading in August, slashing .330/.487/.580 (1.067 OPS) with seven doubles, five home runs, 10 RBI, 25 walks and 22 runs scored in 115 plate appearances. Among Eastern League batters, the New York-born Venezuelan ranked first in walks, second in runs and on-base percentage, third in OPS, tied for fourth in doubles, fifth in batting average, tied for fifth in extra-base hits (12) and total bases (51) and seventh in slugging percentage and hits (29) during the month. The switch-hitter’s 26-game on-base streak from July 31-Aug. 30 is tied for fifth-longest in the EL this season with his other 26-game streak from May 19-July 1. Ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the Phillies farm system by MLB.com, Rincon was named EL Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 17-23. He was selected by the Phillies in the 14thround of the 2022 MLB Draft and was signed by Jeff Zona Jr.
The 22-year-old Bowker began the month with high-A Jersey Shore before being promoted to Reading on Aug. 16. In four starts, the right-hander combined to go 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA (6 ER, 19.0 IP), 20 strikeouts and three walks while holding hitters to a .174 (12-69) batting average. A native of Milford, Mass., he ranked sixth in WHIP (0.79), eighth in walks per 9.0 innings pitched (1.42) and 10th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.67) among the 240 high-A and double-A pitchers to make at least four starts in August. From his debut with the Fightin Phils on Aug. 20 at Portland through the end of the month, Bowker ranked tied for first in wins (2), second in WHIP (0.50), third in opponent’s batting average (.135) and tied for seventh in ERA (1.80) in the EL. He was selected by the Phillies in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft and was signed by Timi Moni.
