9/8/2020 : Phillies 6 ( 21-17 ) Red Sox 5 ( 14-29 ) - Game One of DH - Seven Innings

Zach Eflin pitched five innings allowing three runs ( all on solo home runs ) on eight hits and one walk while striking out six batters. His struggles against left handed hitters continues as Rafael Devers hit two absolute rockets against him and Alex Verdugo hit one into the second deck in right field.

The Phillies scored the game’s first run in the second inning on a solo home run by Didi Gregorius. They plated three in the third inning on a throwing error by Boston Catcher Christian Vasquez that he sailed into left field with Bryce Harper ( walked and advanced to third on two groundouts ) on third base which allowed Harper to score. After a couple of walks and a wild pitch Alec Bohm delivered a clutch two out single to score two runs.

Bobby Dalbec homered against Tommy Hunter in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at four apiece. Rafael Devers doubled off the right field wall to plate Alex Verdugo ( HBP ) to put Boston up a run.

Hector Neris pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Alec Bohm came thru in the clutch again in the bottom of the seventh inning as he lined a two out single into left field scoring JT Realmuto ( walked ) and Didi Gregorius ( singled ) ... the young man can flat out hit !

The Phillies blew another lead ... they were up 4-1 before Boston scored the next four runs which looked like a “L” before Alec came up with the heroics !

Bohm had three hits and four RBIs ... he’s 11 for 23 with runners in scoring position this season and is now hitting .298 overall.

Big time win for the Fightin’s !

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️

Now we wait for game two 🤓
