Double-A Northeast League – New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Rockies) at Reading Fightin Phils; FirstEnergy Stadium

“The Reading Fightin Phils are disappointed to announce the remainder of our final home series for the 2021 season has been cancelled due to our opponent’s COVID protocols. We thank our fans and partners for their continued support throughout the entire season. The R-Phils want to celebrate that with an end of the season party at FirstEnergy Stadium! Join us on Sunday, September 12th from 5:15-7:15pm to eat, drink, and say goodbye to the 2021 R-Phils players at America’s Classic Ballpark. Come play catch on the field and watch to see who wins the end of the season R-Phils player awards. This event is a FREE event – you do NOT need a ticket to attend.

Gates will open at 5:15pm when fans can join us to watch R-Phils players take batting practice from 5:15-6:15pm. Following that, the field will be open for anyone who wants to have a catch (6:30-7:15pm)! Down in the Tompkins VIST Bank Plaza, R-Phils employees will be recognized for their 10+ years of service, while at 6:45pm R-Phils players will be recognized with the annual end of the year accolades. Our classic ballpark food will be available, the Yuengling Hometown Tap Room will be open, and a local band will be performing on our T-Mobile Stage.”

An RBI single by Carlos De La Cruz and a 2-run double by Jonathan Guzman in B7 broke a 4-4 tie. Each team plated a run in the next inning. Earlier Guzman and Johan Rojas homered for JS. Guzman had 3 hits, drove in 3. Rojas scored 3 times and stole 3 bases. Winners stole 6 bases.

OF Corbin Williams ( Jersey Shore ) was released, best wishes to the young man going forward. He was the club’s 2018 24th round draft selection, has elite speed but struggled getting on base consistently.

Bradenton exploded for 5 runs in the T8 to break a 4-4 tie. A pair of homers accounted for 3 of the runs. Kendall Simmons’ homer produced 2 Clearwater runs.

Today’s Phillies game with Tigers East in Lakeland was postponed due to rain. The makeup of the 7/7/21 postponed game which was rescheduled to be played today was cancelled.

The Phillies have a scheduled off day tomorrow and will next play at home on Saturday against the Blue Jays in a 10 AM contest.

Dominican Summer League :

Phillies White 9 ( 26-14 ) Giants Black 2 ( 14-20 )

Erick Brito continues to be red hot, he went 4 for 5 today with 4 RBIs … now hitting .343 for the season in 102 AB’s with a .507 OBP 😳 … the 19 year old Venezuelan infielder also has 15 stolen bases. Seventeen year old Jorge Garcia hit three doubles today in five AB’s, scored twice and had two RBIs. Rickardo Rosario and Jose Leanez ( both 18 yrs old ) each had two hits, both hit a double in the game. Seventeen year old Yemal Flores drew three walks.

Twenty year old RHP Saul Alcala pitched four scoreless innings in relief … 1 H, 0 BB, 6 K’s … he got the win and improved his record to 4-2.

Angels 8 ( 23-17 ) Phillies Red 7 ( 23-18 )

Rickardo Perez ,Solardo Rodriquez and Marco Soto ( all 17 yrs old ) each had two hits. Soto and Jhorjan Guevara each doubled … Rodriquez tripled, scored twice and had two RBIs.
