Dominican League Quarter Final Series Playoffs - best of three series


The Phillies White team defeated Tex Blue two games to none to move to the seminal playoff round


Game One :  Phillies White 4 Tex Blue 3 - completion of suspended game from yesterday


Summary :


The Rangers scored twice in the first inning - they loaded the bases on walks, a run scored on another free pass and a sac fly scored the second run.


Marco Soto & Nolan Beltran singled in the 4th inning -  Angel Mata walked to load the bases.  William Bergolla singled to score two runs.


The Rangers scored a run in the 6th on three singles.


William Bergolla reached on an error in the seventh, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Leanardo Rondon.


Angel Mata walked in the top of the 9th inning - he was replaced by Leny Carela as a pinch runner who stole second base.  William Bergolla reached on an error on which Carela scored.


Rain caused the game to be suspended with one out and no base runners in the bottom of the 9th -


The game resumed today at this point


Saul Alcala came in to finish the game, he struck out the first batter he faced, then gave up a single before ending the contest on a 4-6 groundout.

William Bergolla - 3 for 5 with a double, run scored and three RBIs from leadoff spot.  Jorge Garcia - 2 for 4 with a walk.  Angel Mata - two walks.


Game Two : Phillies White 3 Tex Blue 0 - Five Innings - Rain shortened


Summary :


The Phillies scored twice in the second inning -  Brahian Silva walked, Manolfi Jimenez was hit by a pitch and Marco Soto singled to load the bases.  A wild pitch scored Silva.  Nolan Beltran walked to re-load the bases - a wild pitch scored Jimenez.


Jorge Garcia walked in the third inning, he went to second on a single by Brahian Silva and scored on a single by Manolfi Jimenez.


The game went into rain delay in the middle of the 5th inning.  It was eventually called as a final score.


On the Hill :


RH Maxwell Hernandez -5 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s-FB range 90-93 mph,really strong secondaries- especially the change up


At the Bat : 3 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s


Defensive Gems :


Left fielder Jorge Garcia made a very difficult running catch to record the second out of the 4th inning ranging to the corner for an over the shoulder grab - pitcher Maxwell Hernandez doffed his cap 🤓.
