Phillies Press Release

Friday, April 7, 2023

Prior to today’s game, the Phillies recalled infielder Kody Clemens from triple-A Lehigh Valley and placed infielder Darick Hall on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 4/6) with a right thumb sprain.

Clemens, 26, made 52 plate appearances for the Phillies in spring training.  He slashed .319/.385/.617 with five doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI, five walks and two stolen bases in 19 Grapefruit League games.

Originally selected by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft, Clemens was acquired by the Phillies with left-hander Gregory Soto for infielder Nick Maton, catcher Donny Sands and outfielder Matt Vierling on January 7, 2023.  He is the son of former major league pitcher Roger Clemens.

Hall, 27, was slashing .222/.263/.278 in six games (five starts) for the Phillies this season.  Last year, Hall was the recipient of the Paul Owens Award, presented annually to the organization’s top minor league player.  In 41 games for the Phillies in 2022, Hall hit nine home runs and posted a .522 slugging percentage in 142 plate appearances.

He was originally selected by the Phillies in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
