Notes :

Due to heavy rain last evening the game was played on Roberts Field rather than Ashburn as the back field drains better than the one up in front of the complex. Only problem for us spectators is the lack of shade on the backside of the complex especially with the temporary barriers in place prohibiting non authorized personnel from sitting alongside the first base line.

It was an especially humid this morning but we made due. About 15 or so fans in attendance - mostly parents of either Blue Jays or Phillies players including Jose Acuna’s mom & dad and younger brother and sister.

Albert Rodriquez hit his first professional home run over the left field fence in the second inning - it hit the scoreboard and fell straight down. I had a brain cramp ( forgetting that I’m 62 and very out of shape 😳) and decided to go retrieve the baseball for the young man. If you’ve not been to the complex that walk isn’t a short one - had to venture back out to the front gate and circle behind the Carlton Field outfield fences past the field maintenance shed to arriving behind the Roberts left field fence 🥵. Mr Acuna said he watched me and I was moving pretty fast to get there, I can’t move fast so I know he was kidding 🤓. I did get the baseball and made my way back inside the complex, gave the ball to Jimmy ( security ) and he delivered it the young Mr. Rodriquez. Truly hope he enjoys having his first pro home run baseball. I was dripping with sweat though so the Mrs and I decided to call it a day and we ventured home - still felt good to do a good deed even if it was exhausting 🤪🥸.
