Thursday, 9/8/22 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Worcester ( 69-63 ) Lehigh Valley ( 70-62 ) - doubleheader


Allentown, PA - Coca Cola Park


Game One :  Lehigh Valley 5 Worcester 1


Summary :


Scott Kingery walked in the third inning, went to second on a Chris Sharpe single and scored on a single by Yairo Munoz.   Darick Hall went yard over the right field wall to score three.


Jarren Duran homered for Worcester in the 6th inning.


Johan Camargo hit a home run in the bottom of the 6th inning.


Michael Plassmeyer continued his strong work for LHV - Seranthony Dominguez walked the first two batters he faced but then settled in with a K and ground ball double play to close out the game.


On the Hill :


LH Michael Plassmeyer - 6 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 7 K’s - 98 pitches - 68 strikes

RH Seranthony Dominguez - 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 15 pitches - 6 strikes


At the Bat : 6 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s


Darick Hall hit a three run home run, Johan Camargo hit a solo home run.


Game Two :  Worcester 9 Lehigh Valley 1


Summary :


Worcester loaded the bases in the third inning on two walks and a single - two walks scored two runs. Johan Mieses then hit a grand slam home run. A fielding error ( 3B Yairo Munoz ) and double scored another run.


Worcester scored a run in the 4th - single, walk & double.


Dustin Peterson homered in the bottom of the 4th.


Worcester scored a run in the 7th on two walks, a wild pitch and a sac fly.


On the Hill :

Eastern League ( AA ) - New Hampshire 11 ( 53-76, 22-38 )  Reading 7 ( 57-72, 28-32 ) - 11 innings

Summary :


Jhailyn Ortiz walked in the 2nd inning, Aldrem Corredor & Kevin Vicuna singled to load the bases.  Herbert Iser reached on a fielders choice, Ortiz scored. Madison Stokes grounded into a double play, Corredor scored.


New Hampshire loaded the bases in the third inning on a single and two walks.  Addison Barger doubled to score two runs.


McCarthy Tatum doubled in the third inning and scored on a triple by Jhailyn Ortiz.


Sebastian Espino homered for NH leading off the 4th inning.


Jonathan Guzman singled in the 5th inning and stole second base.  He went to third when Carlos De La Cruz reached on an error.  Jhailyn Ortiz singled to score Guzman.


Two doubles scored a run for NH in the 6th inning.    They scored two more in the 8th on a walk, single and double.


Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases for Reading in the 8th - a run scored on a wild pitch.


McCarthy Tatum walked in the bottom of the ninth, he scored on a line drive double to the left center field wall by Carlos De La Cruz.


The game went into extra innings tied at six.


Addison Barger doubled in the top of the 10th to score the placed runner.


Kevin Vicuna singled to score placed runner Johan Rojas in the bottom of the 10th.  Herbert Iser walked. Madison Stokes put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third base.  McCarthy Tatum lined a ball to second base that the fielder dove for and caught to send the game into the 11th inning.


Karl Ellison laid down a bunt for NH in the top of the 11th moving the placed runner to third base, he then scored on a wild pitch.  A couple of walks put runners on first and second base.  Cam Eden hit a three run home run.


On the Hill :


LH Josh Hendrickson - 5 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s - 78 pitches - 55 strikes

RH Mike Adams - 2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 25 pitches - 18 strikes

Jhailyn Ortiz had two hits including a triple.  Kevin Vicuna had two hits.  McCarthy Tatum & Carlos De La Cruz doubled.


South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore 4 ( 49-80, 24-39 ) Aberdeen 1 ( 77-52, 34-29 )

Summary :


Rixon Wingrove hit a two run home run in the 4th inning scoring Kendall Simmons ( reached on error ) in front of him.


Rixon Wingrove hit his second two run home run of the game in the 8th inning once again scoring Kendall Simmons ( singled ) in front of him.


Aberdeen scored a run in the top of the 9th on a single, double ( Heston Kjerstad ) and sac fly.


On the Hill :


RH Kyle Glogoski - 7 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 K’s - 79 pitches - 52 strikes - great mix of pitches - threw strikes - kept off balance

LH Erubiel Armenta - 1 perfect IP - 1 K - 7 pitches - 6 strikes

RH Rodolfo Sanchez - 1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s - 20 pitches - 13 strikes


At the Bat : 10 H, 1 BB, 12 K’s


Hao Yu Lee, Kendall Simmons & Rixon Wingrove each had two hits.  Wingrove hit two home runs ( 11th & 12th ) and had 4 RBIs.  Anthony Quirion & Hao Yu Lee each doubled
