Summary :


Armando Alvarez hit a solo home run for SWB in the third inning.


SWB starting pitcher JP Sears retired the first 13 batters he faced before Jorge Bonifacio reached on an error and Rafael Marchan walked in the 5th inning, Dustin Peterson doubled to score both of them. Drew Maggi singled to score Peterson.


Phillip Evans hit a solo home run for SWB in the seventh inning.


On The Hill :


RH Michael Mariot - 6 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s - 80 pitches - 51 strikes

LH Jonathan Hennigan - 1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 18 pitches - 11 strikes

Game One : Reading 4 Hartford 1


Summary :


Hartford starting pitcher Nick Bush retired the first eleven Reading batters he faced before Aldrem Corredor beat out an infield single to the left side of the diamond in the 4th inning. Logan O’Hoppe went yard ( his 9th HR of the year ) over the left field fence to score him.


James McArthur retired nine in a row before former Phillies minor leaguer Hunter Stoval led off the bottom of the 4th with a double, he scored on a single by Aaron Schunk. A two out single by Benton Doyle put runners on first and third, Doyle stole second base with catcher Logan O’Hoppe throwing thru to the bag, when Schunk broke for home the return throw by shortstop Jonathan Guzman nailed him at the plate to end the inning !


Jack Conley led off the 5th inning with a double down the left field line. Jonathan Guzman put down a bunt single on which Hartford pitcher Nick Bush threw down the right field line allowing Conley to score.


Hartford loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fifth but McArthur got Stovall to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.


Vito Friscia doubled in the top of the seventh inning and scored on a single by Ali Castillo.


On The Hill :

RH Ofreidy Gomez - 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 16 pitches - 13 strikes - sat 96-97 mph with fastball 🔥

Logan O’Hoppe had two hits ( 2B, HR ) and two RBIs. Jack Conley & Vito Friscia each doubled.


Defensive Gems :


Shortstop Jonathan Guzman made a hard play look easy in the bottom of the fourth - he stopped a sharply hit grounder to his left and threw out the runner at first base - he’s a very smooth fielder.


Right Fielder Aldrem Corredor made a sliding catch on a quick sinking fly ball in the fifth inning.


James McArthur Game Two : Reading 1 Hartford 0


Summary :


Jhailyn Ortiz hit a solo home run in the 4th inning, his 9th tater of the season.


Hartford loaded the bases with no outs on two walks and a single in the bottom of the seventh inning. Brian Marconi struck out the next hitter. Jimmy Herron hit a fly ball to left fielder Jack Conley who caught it and threw a strike to home plate where catcher Vito Friscia applied the tag on Daniel Montano ( he had tagged at third and attempted to score ) for a game ending double play !


On The Hill :


LH Erik Miller - 2 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 47 pitches - 28 strikes

RH Matt Seelinger - 2 perfect IP - 4 K’s - 32 pitches - 22 strikes - excellent outing

RH McKinley Moore - 2 perfect IP - 3 K’s - 16 pitches - 12 strikes 🔥

LH Brian Marconi - 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 23 pitches - 13 strikes


At Bat : 4 H, 1 BB, 12 K’s


Jhailyn Ortiz had two hits including a home run. Vito Friscia had two hits.

Summary :


Wilfredo Flores led off the bottom of the first with a single, he then stole second base and scored on a single by Kendall Simmons.


Chris Burke doubled in the bottom of the second inning, he scored on a double by Arturo DeFreitas. Erick Brito walked, DeFreitas went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly by Albert Jerez. Brito moved up two bases on wild pitches and scored on a sac fly by Wilfredo Flores.


Kendall Simmons singled in the third inning, went to second on an error, to third on a ground out and scored on a sac fly by Leandro Pineda.


Glenn Santiago doubled to score Roque Salinas ( singled ) for Dunedin in the fourth inning.


Damiano Palmegiani doubled in the sixth inning and scored on a single by Rainer Nunez for the Blue Jays.


Amell Brazoban homered for Dunedin in the seventh inning.


Erick Brito tripled in the 7th - The game went into a weather delay ( lightning ) with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. After a lengthy ( 1 hour 31 minutes ) delay the game resumed at 10:20 PM 🥴. When play resumed Marcus Lee Sang singled to score Brito.


On The Hill :


LH Jordi Martinez - 5 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s - 77 pitches - 54 strikes

RH Carlos Betancourt - 1 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 17 pitches - 12 strikes

Kendall Simmons had three hits. Erick Brito tripled. Chris Burke & Arturo De Freitas each doubled.

Notes :


RHP Oswald Medina was assigned to extended spring training before the game and OF Yhoswar Garcia was activated from the IL. Garcia started the game in center field but left in the second inning with an injury.


Extended Spring Training :


The Phillies and Tigers played a nine inning game on Ashburn Field at Carpenter Complex. Jo Jo Romero, Trevor Bettencourt, Taylor Lehman, Jose Pena, Tristan Garnett, Alex McKenney & Christopher Soriano all pitched in the game. Alexeis Azuaje & Jadiel Sanchez made plate appearances, they are both on the Clearwater Threshers IL. Tomorrow the fellas will play the Canadien Junior National Team in Dunedin at the Jays Complex.
