Extended Spring Training :

The Phillies squared off against the Canadian Junior National Team in a nine inning scrimmage. Former Phillies Rob Ducey and Pete Orr are on the Canada coaching staff, to my surprise both remembered me today and said hello 🤓. Pete was here this spring in his role as a scout with the Brewers. Another former Phillie Scott Mathieson is a pitching coach for the club.

The young Canadians can swing the bat, they pounded out double digit hits - outfielder Cameron Chee-Aloy went yard over the right field fence.

Rehabbing right handers Albertus Barber & Sam Jacobsak each threw a scoreless inning for the Phillies and RH Estibenzon Jimenez impressed with five K’s in two perfect innings - hard breaking slider that disappeared on hitters as they swung over top. Fernando Lozano pitched three innings and Wilson Valdez went two frames.

Edward Barboza & Jackie Pertuz each hit doubles.

We sat next to one of the Canadien team’s third baseman Jakob Potumak’s dad during the game - nice chap. Myles Naylor ( Josh’s younger brother ) is a SS/3B on the club - he played third today.
