Fall Instructs - Day Two
Dodging raindrops has been the theme for the first two days of camp - today a light drizzle was played thru as coaches put the players thru various drills. We watched all the infielders take grounders, middle infielders practice flips to second base and corners work on bunts with pitchers on the mound - all on Roberts Field which seems to drain relatively well to the other three.
Yesterday afternoon the half field ( Bowa Field ) in front of the stadium was used for PFP’s ( Pitcher Fielding Practices ) when the sun appeared after an overcast morning.
We watched practice for about three hours or so today - continue to be impressed with young shortstop Bryan Rincon ( 18 year old - 2022 14th round draft selection - Shaler Area HS - Pittsburgh, PA ). The young man is smooth with his defensive movements - during the flip drill it seemed instinctive and as if he’s been well coached. We saw some pop in his bat this summer in the FCL as well. On ground balls his circling and thru the baseball routines are strong - decent size as well - certainly a fella to watch develop.
