Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 1/16 and 1/17 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Leones del Escogido 7 (12-5) Gigantes del Cibao 4 (2 -15) - with the win the Leones clinched a berth into the league championship series.
Aguilas Cibaenas 6 (10-7) Toros del Este 2 (10-7) - with one game left in the round robin playoffs the two teams are tied for the final spot in the league championship series. RHP Jonathan Hernandez pitched 1/3 of an inning (0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K) for the Aguilas in relief. Yairo Munoz (2B) went 2 for 3 (singles) with a walk for the Toros while Bryan De La Cruz(RF) was 0 for 4 with a walk.
Mexican Winter League : playoffs :
Charros de Jalisco 3 (4-1) Águilas de Mexicali 2 (1-4) - the Charros win the series and advance to the league championship series to play the Tomateros de Culiacán.
Venezuela Winter League : Round Robin Playoff Tournament :
Aguilas del Zulia 8 (5-4) Caribes de Anzoategui 5 (5-4) - Ali Castillo (2B) went 2 for 5 (singles) for the Aguilas. RHP Cristian Hernandez pitched three innings (2 R, 4 H, 3 K’s) and Aldrem Corredor (1B) hit a two run home run for the Caribes.
Bravos de Margarita 4 (3-6) Navegantes del Magallanes 0 (3-6) - Wilson Garcia (DH) went 1 for 2 (single) with two walks and an RBI for the Bravos.
Puerto Rico Winter League : League Championship Series :
Cangrejeros de Santurce 8 (4-0) Leones de Ponce 4 (0-4) - Santurce is one win away from the league title - Jesmuel Valentin (2B) went 3 for 5 (two singles & double) with two RBIs and a run scored for the Leones.
Australian Baseball League :
Adelaide Giants (19-19) Perth Heat (17-21) - double header :
Game One : Perth 3 Adelaide 2 - RHP Giuseppe Velasquez started and pitched five innings (2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 64 pitches - 43 strikes) for the Giants. Raylin Heredia (CF) was 2 for 3 (two doubles) with a run scored. Jose Colmenares (SS) and Alirio Ferrebus(DH) each had a single, Jose also walked. Manolfi Jimenez (LF) was 0 for 3.
Game Two : Perth 4 Adelaide 0 - the Giants were held to just two hits, singles by Jordan McArdle (RF) and Mitchell Edwards (DH). Nick Ward (2B), Manolfi Jimenez (LF) and Jose Colmenares (SS) each walked once.
Brisbane Bandits 1 (16-22) Sydney Blue Sox 0 (24-14) - rain shortened contest - Rixon Wingrove (1B) went 1 for 3 (single) for Brisbane. The second game of a scheduled doubleheader was cancelled.
