Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues.

Australian Winter League :

1/18/25 action : LHP Matt Osterberg was excellent (7 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s) for the Adelaide Giants (22-17) as they defeated the Melbourne Aces (18-21) 9-0. Osterberg finished his first regular season in Australia with a 2.62 ERA in 10 starts (44.2 IP) with 40 K’s and 16 walks - coupled with the 92 innings (20 starts - 18 at Reading & 2 rehab with CW) from this summer he’s pitched 136.2 frames over the past year - that’s not unusual for the workhorse hurler as he threw 122 innings in 2023.  Diego Gonzalez (3B) also had a big game - he went 2 for 5 with a single and a three run home run and posted four RBIs in total. Catcher Lou Albrecht was 1 for 2 with a double, walk and three runs scored.  The league’s regular season concludes tomorrow.

Colombia Winter League :

1/17/25 action : the Caimanes de Barranquilla defeated the Vaqueros de Monteria 10-9 in the fifth game of the league championship series to force a game six with the Vaqueros leading 3 wins to 2 in the best of seven. Box score wasn’t available.

Venezuela Winter League :

1/17/25 action : former Phillies minor league catcher Jose Godoy went 2 for 3 (single & double) for the Aguilas del Zulia (7-9) in a 6-4 win over the Cardenales de Lara (11-5) in round robin playoff play - former Phillies RHP Francisco Morales pitched a scoreless inning (1 H, 1 K) for the Aguilas and was credited with the mound win.  In the other playoff game the Tigres de Aragua (5-11) pounded the Navegantes del Magallanes (6-10) 16-4.  The round robin playoff series is now complete - the Cardenales de Lara will meet the Bravos de Margarita (11-5) in the league championship series.

Puerto Rico Winter League :

1/17/25 action : the Indios de Mauaguez defeated the Senadores de San Juan 5-3 in the first game of the best of seven league championship series. RHP Carlos Francisco threw a perfect inning in relief needing just three pitches for the Indios 😳. Former Phillies minor league RHP Julian Garcia started for the Senadores and pitched three innings (1 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s).  Former Phillies minor league infielder Vimael Machin had two hits for San Juan while former Phillies minor league outfielder Cornelius Randolph went 1 for 5 with a single for them.

Dominican Winter League :

1/17/25 action : former Phillies pitchers Adonis Medina, Enyel De Los Santos and Ulises Joaquin each threw a scoreless inning in relief for the Tigres del Licey (11-3) as they defeated the Estrellas Orientales (5-9) 2-1 in round robin playoff play and earned their place in the league championship series. Johan Rojas (CF) was 0 for 3 in the contest for Licey. With the win the Tigres advanced to their third consecutive championship series. The Leones del Escogido (9-5) lost to the Aguilas Cibaeñas (3-11) 1-0 - former Phillies minor league pitchers Franklyn Kilome and Sam McWilliams each threw a scoreless frame for the Aguillas. The Leones have a magic number of two to qualify for the league championship series and when they do it will be the 10th championship series meeting between them and the Tigres in league history.

Nicaragua Winter League :
