Australia :
LHP Jonathan Hennigan pitched 1 1/3 frames for Adelaide in game one of their two contests played on the day. He allowed no hits and one walk while striking out a batter but an inherited runner did score on a passed ball. The Giants were limited to three hits in their 1-0 loss to Perth. Luke Williams doubled ... Cornelius Randolph and Mitchell Edwards had the other two hits, both singles.
Perth only had one hit in the game yet scored the game’s only run ... on a couple walks, and passed balls in the sixth inning.
In game two Rixon Wingrove belted a game winning walk off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to propel Adelaide to an 8-4 victory over Brisbane ! Wingrove had two hits in the game. Former Phillies minor leaguer Curtis Mead also had two hits including a three run homer.
Kendall Simmons singled, walked and had a stolen base and Luke Williams singled.
RHP Tyler Burch made his ABL debut with a scoreless inning allowing just one walk. Austin Ross pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings ... 1 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s.
Venezuela :
Former Phillies minor leaguer Ali Castillo had two hits ( including a double ) and three RBIs for Caribes de Anzoategui in their 8-2 win over Magallanes. The playoff series is tied at three wins apiece. Castillo recently signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.
Cesar Hernandez had two hits for Cardenales de Lara in their 7-1 loss to the Tigres de Aragua. Their semifinal series is also tied at three wins apiece.
