Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues.


Dominican Winter League :


1/24/25 action : Johan Rojas went 3 for 5 (two singles & double) with two stolen bases and a run scored for the Tigres del Licey as they defeated the Leones del Escogido 9-3 in game four of the championship to even the series at two wins apiece. Former Phillies infielder Jean Segura was 2 for 4 (single & double) with two RBIs for the Leones.


Australian Winter League :


1/25/25 action : the Perth Heat defeated the Adelaide Giants 5-3 to sweep their semi-final playoff series 2-0 and eliminate the two time defending champions. RHP Estibenzon Jimenez

pitched four innings for the Giants (3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 45 pitches - 33 strikes).  Former Phillies minor leaguers Nick Ward, Jared Carr and Rixon Wingrove each had a single and walk in the game. Lou Albrecht caught and Nikau Pouaka-Grego played second base for Adelaide.


In the other semi-final series the Canberra Calvery defeated the Sydney Blue Sox 5-2 to sweep their series.  Canberra will now meet Perth in the league championship series.


Venezuela Winter League :


1/24/25 action : the Cardenales de Lara defeated the Bravos de Margarita 12-9 to take a 3-2 lead in the championship series. Former Phillies minor league shortstop Pedro Martinez was 1 for 4 (single) for the Bravos.


Puerto Rico Winter League :


1/24/25 action : the Indios de Mayaguez defeated the Senadores de San Juan 5-2 to win the league championship series five games to one. RHP Carlos Francisco pitched a perfect inning for Mayaguez in relief. He appeared in four of the six games in the series and didn’t yield a run in 4.2 innings pitched. Former Phillies minor league outfielder Danny Ortiz homered in the game for the Indios. The league championship is the 20th in the team history for Mayaguez and second in the most recent three years - the league dates back to 1938 when it began play.


Mexican Pacific League :


1/24/25 action : the Charros de Jalisco took a 2-1 championship series lead over the Tomateros de Culiacán with a 6-5 victory - they scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth for the walk-off win. Luis Verdugo (SS) was 1 for 4 for the Tomateros.


Colombia Winter League :


The season is complete - the Caimanes de Barranquilla were crowned champions.


Nicaragua Winter League :


The season is complete - the Leones de Leon were crowned champions.


Panama Winter League :


The season is complete - the Águilas Metropolitanas were crowned champions.
