1/6/2021 - Winter League Recap

Recapping 1/5/21 game action.

Australia:

LHP Taylor Lehman started game one of a doubleheader for Adelaide vs Perth. The lefty battled control as he reached his pitch count after just six batters. He went one

plus innings ... he was pulled after the first two batters reached base in the top of the second inning. Lehman recorded two strikeouts while issuing three walks. He was charged with two runs ... the reliever who followed him in the second inning gave up a three run tater that allowed the two inherited runners to score. Taylor’s FB was in the 90-92 range.

Rixon Wingrove hit two home runs in the double header ... one in each game, both over the center field fence ... the big fella has a powerful stroke !

Kendall Simmons and Mitchell Edwards each homered in the second game of the day. Edwards hit his against a pitcher his father had also faced when he previously played in the league ... here’s a fun fact ... Mitchell and his father John Edwards have now both homered against hurler Travis Blackley 😳 ... Pretty cool.

Luke Williams had two hits in game two. The teams split the twin bill.

Note ... game highlights can be seen on the Australian Baseball League website.

Mexico :

Victor Arano pitched a scoreless tenth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter to earn the save for Yaquis de Obegron in their 3-2 playoff game victory.
