Meghan Montemurro of the Athletic reports that the team has out-righted pitchers Adam Morgan and Heath Hembree off the 40 man roster. Morgan recently had flexor tendon surgery and is likely to miss six to nine months. Hembree was acquired from Boston this summer but was ineffective and was also shut down with an arm injury.
Both players were slated for arbitration ... Spotrac estimated that each player would make $ 2 million if kept on the roster. By making these roster moves the team seemingly allocates $ 4 million elsewhere or treats it as a cost reduction.
