This Phillies off-season I will continue the series  “Annual Phillies Minor League Player Notes” with profiles presented in groupings by defensive positions for the players who were still part of the minor league player development program at season’s end. The notes will reflect statistics, my thoughts on each player and input from them and others as I have it. They are presented in order by position and then alphabet in groupings of players per article. Here’s part two of the outfielders highlighting the following :

Cade Fergus

Raylin Heredia

Brewer Hicklen

Jonathan Hogart

Nate Humphreys

Manolfi Jimenez

Cade Fergus  - 25 years old (26 on 8/22/26)  - drafted - 13th round of the 2022 draft from George Washington University

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - played at two levels - began with Reading - assigned to Lehigh Valley on 4/22, back to Reading on 5/6 and then to Lehigh Valley again on 9/20 - put up far better numbers at LHV - 10 games - 36 plate appearances - .333/.371/.788 slash line and a 1.159 OPS with 5 home runs and 13 RBIs - at Reading played in 86 games - 280 plate appearances - .148/.266/.314 slash line with a .580 OPS - 7 doubles, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs - overall had 7 doubles, 15 home runs, 39 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Defensively played center field in 46 games and left field in 19 games.

2025 Notes :  he’s from Plantation, Florida and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas HS. Played four collegiate seasons at George Washington - .280/.389/.466 slash line and .855 OPS in 764 plate appearances - 49 doubles, 19 home runs and 93 RBIs. When I’ve watched him play I’ve noted good hands and bat speed as a hitter, turns on fastballs, has big pop. He is a very good defender, speed, excellent throwing arm, can cover a lot of ground. Cordial young man, pleasant personality. Plays hard. He caught fire in April when promoted to Lehigh Valley hitting five home runs and driving in 13 runs over a six game span from 4/24 to 5/4 going 9 for 21 (.429). He was disappointed when transferred back to Reading thereafter. It was a mixed bag season for Cade - on one hand in a small sample size he proved he can hit pitching at the highest level of the minor leagues but on the other hand struggled at Reading. Hopefully next spring the success he had at Lehigh Valley is the path found once again.

Raylin Heredia  - 22 years old (23 on 11/10/26) - signed international free agent - 2/2/21 - Santo Domingo, DR

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - played in 50 games - 184 plate appearances - .285/.343/.467 slash line and .810 OPS with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, 41 RBIs, 12 walks, 46 strikeouts and 5 stolen bases. Was placed on the IL 5/4 - sent on rehab with the FCL Phillies 6/14 - 10 games - 37 plate appearances - .343/.351/.486 slash line with a .837 OPS - 2 doubles, 1 HR, 4 RBIs, returned to Jersey Shore 7/3 - overall numbers - 60 games played - 221 plate appearances - 9 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, 45 RBIs, 13 walks, 52 strikeouts and 7 stolen bases. Defensively played 35 games in RF, 8 in CF and 8 in LF. Had a very good month of July - .304/.360/.413 in 50 plate appearances.

2025 Notes :  the past two summers have included a good bit of lost time spent on the IL and in recovery mode at the complex - when he’s on the field has shown a great arm, power, decent wheels, bat speed and a passion to play.  He’s a right fielder in my view with a chance to develop into a power bat run producer - plays with confidence and enthusiasm. When we first saw him play in the FCL (2023) he dominated (.326/.415/.532 in 164 PA’s) and that ability still comes thru during good runs. He will need to adjust as pitchers adjust to him, can square up any velocity of heat. Is going to join the Adelaide Giants in the Australian Winter League in December after finishing up his contract obligation with the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League. Will pick up the lost AB’s from this past summer and hopefully come into spring camp healthy and ready to excel.

Raylin’s 2025  reflections :  “During the offseason, I’ll be playing with my team in the Dominican Republic to get more at-bats. I feel like that will help me a lot because I didn’t get many at-bats this past season. I’ve also been invited to play in Australia. After I finish all those games, I’ll go back to working with my personal trainer and my personal batting coach. I think we did an excellent job during the last offseason, and you don’t change what’s good. Now the focus is on getting to spring training 2026 in better shape. The goal is clear: I want to make it to the big leagues, and I’m going to do it with God.”

Brewer Hicklen  - 29 years old (30 on 2/9/26)  - acquired in trade with Tigers - 7/26/25

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - played in 32 games - 133 plate appearances - 2 doubles, 8 home runs, 25 RBIs, 11 walks, 42 strikeouts and 7 stolen bases for Lehigh Valley. Prior to being re-acquired by the Phillies he played in one game with Detroit in the major leagues and in 63 games in their minor leagues - 61 with AAA level Toledo where he hit 8 home runs and drove in 31 runs - for the minor leagues season posted 16 home runs and 56 RBIs in 393 plate appearances.

2025 Notes :  was acquired for the second time in trade (was initially acquired from Royals 8/22/23) for cash in a deal with the Tigers. He was drafted in the 2017 draft by the Royals in the 7th round from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and is from Huntsville, Alabama. He’s played with the Royals, Brewers, Tigers and Phillies organizations and has played in ten major league games. Is now a minor league free agent once again.

Jonathan Hogart  - 23 years old (24 on 5/1/26) - signed un-drafted free agent - 7/22/25 - Murray State University

2025 Stats :  RH hitter/thrower - initially worked at the complex in draftee mini camp after signing - was activated with Clearwater on 8/5 - put up solid numbers - 24 games - 107 plate appearances - .284/.439/.444 with a .883 OPS - 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs, 17 walks, 28 strikeouts and 1 stolen base. Defensively played RF in 11 games and in LF in 9 games.

2025 Notes :  he’s from Owensboro, Kentucky and graduated from Madisonville-North Hopkins HS. He initially played a season at Wabash Valley Junior College and then attended Louisiana Tech University and played there a year before transferring to Murray State. Posted a .313/.423/.607 slash line and 1.030 OPS in 646 plate appearances with 40 doubles, 38 home runs and 138 RBIs. He had an outstanding 2025 NCAA tournament and during the season had an NCAA best eight lead off home runs. Reports are that he’s an aggressive hitter on balls in his zone with home run power but also has shown plate patience. I’ve yet to see him play in person and hope to do so this spring - with his initial success at Clearwater could bump up to Jersey Shore out of 2026 spring camp. He’s currently participating in Fall High Performance Camp.

Jonathan’s 2025  reflections :  “I learned a lot about myself this past season. I learned how to handle more failure consistently with there being more games. I was happy with how things progressed and how things ended, wish we made it further in the playoffs of course but going to playoffs in my first year was so awesome. My plan this off-season is too develop mentally and physically to be ready for the full season ahead. I don’t really have any hopes going into the upcoming year. I’m just blessed to be able to do this. Of course I wanna take this as far and make it as high as I can but also I’m not trying to think too much about it and just grateful for every opportunity.”

Nate Humphreys  - 23 years old (24 on 8/16/26) - signed un-drafted free agent - 7/22/25 - Dallas Baptist University

2025 Stats :  LH hitter - RH thrower - initially worked at the complex in draftee mini camp after signing - was activated with Clearwater on 8/5 - 24 games - 102 plate appearances - .233/.337/.360 slash line and .697 OPS with 5 doubles, 2 home runs, 14 RBIs, 14 walks, 33 strikeouts and 4 stolen bases. Defensively played CF in 17 games and RF in 3 games.

2025 Notes :  he’s from Midlothian, Texas and graduated from Midlothian HS. His father Mike Humphreys played in 54 games for the Yankees over three seasons as an outfielder in the Major Leagues from 1991 to 1993 and his brother Zach Humphreys is playing in the Los Angeles Angels organization as a catcher at the AAA level. In four seasons at Dallas Baptist Nate posted a .289/.396/.512 slash line and .909 OPS in 940 plate appearances with 49 doubles, 39 home runs and 163 RBIs. He’s noted as having a well rounded toolset - made a spectacular catch in center field on 8/15 against Lakeland to save a no-hitter. He showed great range in his games as a center fielder with Clearwater. In his senior year at DBU hit 17 home runs and posted 69 RBIs. Had a very solid debut with Clearwater and is now participating in Fall High Performance Camp - looking forward to seeing him play in ‘26 spring camp, could advance to Jersey Shore directly out of camp.

Manolfi Jimenez  - 21 years old (22 on 11/14/26) - signed international free agent - 1/15/22 - Santo Domingo, DR

2025 Stats :  LH hitter/thrower - opened the season with the FCL Phillies - played in 46 games - 171 plate appearances - .306/.339/.529 slash line and .868 OPS with 13 doubles, 5 triples, 4 home runs, 20 RBIs, 6 walks, 26 strikeouts and 3 stolen bases. Promoted to Clearwater on 6/24, returned to FCL 7/2 and transferred back to Clearwater on 8/8 - played in 25 games with the Threshers - 94 plate appearances - .235/.323/.272 slash line and .595 OPS - 3 doubles, 6 RBIs, 8 walks, 20 strikeouts, 2 stolen bases.  Defensively played LF - 31 games, RF - 20 games  and CF 14 games.

2025 Notes :  he was named an FCL All-Star as he was second in the loop in batting average and led the league in slugging percentage and triples. Manolfi is a very pleasant young man who came stateside in 2024 and had a decent season in the FCL - he’s got pop in his bat - has seven stateside home runs on the spacious backfields in his two years of play. This season was a mini-breakout for him as he put up good numbers - had a strong April - .311/.328/.475 in 64 plate appearances and an even better May - .375/.393/.696 slash line in 61 plate appearances including going 3 for 8 in two games with the Threshers. He plays with energy, has decent wheels and is a hard worker. He will join the Adelaide Giants in December to play winter ball in Australia. Has tools to build upon - should push for a full season assignment in spring camp.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
