Here’s a catchup on Phillies players or former players participating in the Winter Leagues. It’s cumbersome to find the results for some of the leagues but we persevere 🤓. Rafael Marchan is having a really good season for Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan League. The twenty four year old catcher is slashing .373/.463/.597 with an OPS of 1.060 in 19 games (80 plate appearances) with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 15 RBIs. He’s walked 8 times. Australian Baseball League :
The league plays games Thursday thru Saturday, they call each weekly series a “round”. The Phillies contingent plays for the Adelaide Giants. This week’s games are round two.
11/23/23 : Adelaide 10 Perth 5
First baseman Rixon Wingrove was 3 for 4 with a single, two doubles, a walk and two RBIs, he also scored a run. Rixon was playing for Team Australia during round one in the Asia Professional Baseball Championships in Tokyo so this game was his season debut for Adelaide. Catcher Andrik Nava went 1 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. Center fielder Cade Fergus was 1 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Second baseman Kendall Simmons was 1 for 5 with a single and run scored. Leadoff hitter and third baseman Nick Ward was 1 for 4 with a single and walk, he scored two runs.

11/18/23 : Brisbane 3 Adelaide 1
Second baseman Nick Ward was 2 for 3 with a single,double and a walk. He posted one RBI as the leadoff hitter. First baseman Anthony Quirion went 1 for 4 with a double. Center fielder Cade Fergus walked in three plate appearances and scored a run. RHP Cam Wynne pitched a scoreless frame - one hit, two strikeouts - 16 pitches - 11 strikes.

11/22/23 : Former Phillies minor league RHP Victor Santos pitched five innings (1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 7 K’s) for Leones del Escogido in a 12-1 win over Estrellas Orientales. Another former Phillies RHP, Tyler Viza, pitched four shutout innings (5 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s) for Aguilas Cibaeñas in a 4-0 win over Toros del Este.
11/21/23 : Former Phillies RHP Adonis Medina threw a scoreless inning (2 H, 1 K) for Tigres del Licey in their 5-0 loss to Gigantes del Cibao.
11/20/23 : Former Phillies minor league infielder Jonathan Arauz made his season debut for Estrellas Orientales going 1 for 2 with a double and walk in a 5-4 win against Tigres del Licey. Former Phillies minor league RHP Aneurys Zabala pitched a scoreless inning (1 H, 2 K’s) for Leones del Escogido in a 9-4 win over Aguilas Cibaeñas.
Venezuelan Professional Baseball League :
11/23/23 : Catcher Rafael Marchan went 2 for 4 with a single and home run, he scored twice and had an RBI for Tigres de Aragua in an 8-1 win over Navegantes del Magallanes.
11/22/23 : Freddy Galvis went 3 for 5 with a single, two doubles and two RBIs for Aguilas del Zulia in a 11-6 loss to Navegantes del Magallanes. Rafael Marchan went 3 for 5 with a single, double and three RBIs for Tigres de Aragua in a 13-3 win over Leones del Caracas. RHP Cristian Hernandez pitched 1.2 innings (0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s) for Caribes de Anzoategui in a 9-1 loss to Tiburones de La Guaira.
11/21/23 : Rafael Marchan was 1 for 2 with a triple and two walks for Aguilas del Zulia, he scored two runs in their 12-11 win against Navegantes del Magallanes. Simon Muzziotti went 3 for 6 with two RBIs for Aguilas del Zulia in their 16-6 victory over Cardenales de Lara. Former Phillies shortstop Freddy Galvis made his season debut in the game for Aguilas going 2 for 4 with a single and double, he walked twice, scored two runs and had two RBIs.
11/19/23 : Rafael Marchan played first base and went 2 for 4 with a walk and 2 RBIs for Aguilas del Zulia in a 10-7 loss to Tigres de Aragua. Simon Muzziotti (1 for 5) tripled and had 2 RBIs for the Tigres. Former Phillies RHP Ricardo Pinto pitched five innings (1 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s) for Tiburones de La Guaira in a 12-11 loss to Bravos de Margarita.
11/18/23 : RHP Carlos Betancourt won his 4th game of the season for Aguilas del Zulia with a perfect inning of relief (1 K) in a 3-1 win over Tigres de Aragua. RHP Cristian Hernandez pitched 1.2 innings (1 R, 1 H) for Caribes de Anzoategui in a 6-2 loss to Bravos de Margarita.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
11/22/23 : Former Phillies minor league infielder Vimael Machin went 2 for 4 with a single, double, walk and two RBIs for Caguas in a 16-1 win over RA12.
11/19/23 : LHP Gabriel Cotto pitched 3.1 innings (3 R - 2 earned, 2 H, 5 BB) for Ponce in an 8-3 win against Caguas.
Mexico Pacific League :
11/22/23 : Esteban Quiroz went 2 for 4 with a single, double and RBI for Algodoneros de Guasave in a 15-4 loss to Mayos de Navojoa.
