With the Phillies presumably in search of a President of Baseball Operations and a General Manager I thought as a comparison I’d take a look at how each of the 30 MLB teams are structured in regards to team leadership as well as their focus on baseball functions.
The Phillies leadership hierarchy presently has Managing Partner John Middleton at the top with President Andy MacPhail as a direct report. Executive Vice President Dave Buck is the leader of the business side of the equation. Matt Klentak was the Vice President and General Manager - Baseball Operations before being “untitled”. Ned Rice is now serving as the interim GM with Klentak seemingly serving in an auxiliary role.
The GM role has three Assistant GM’s along with three senior advisors and four special assistants reporting to him.
