Now that the World Series has concluded players who were on the 60 day injured list during the season must be added back to the 40 man roster by Sunday or dispositioned. The 40 man roster therefore is truly just 40 slots again. Seven spots immediately opened up to free agency ( Archie Bradley, Ian Kennedy, Matt Moore, Hector Neris, Freddy Galvis, Brad Miller, Cam Bedrosian) and another opened up when Andrew McCutchen’s contract option was declined today. The Phillies roster will be at 36 total if the four remaining players on the IL ( Romero, Quinn, Hoskins and Eflin ) are all added before Sunday.
Odubel Herrera’s contract option was also declined but the Phillies can now offer him arbitration if they choose to.
There are decisions to be made on arbitration offers … nine players are arbitration eligible.
