12/16/20 : Phillies sign RHP Neftali Feliz

Thirty-two year old reliever Neftali Feliz has signed a minor league contract with the Phillies with an invitation to big league spring training camp. Feliz is currently pitching for Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican Winter League. He had posted six saves in the Winter League in 13 appearances striking out 19 batters and walking 6 in 12 2/3 IP.

Feliz last pitched in the big leagues for the Kansas City Royals in 2017 and has 9 years of big league service with the Rangers, Blue Jays, Tigers, Pirates, Brewers and Royals. He was the high velocity closer of the Rangers early in his career and posted 72 saves during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Neftali had Tommy John surgery in 2012 and has battled to regain his early career form since suffering thru various injuries. Word is he’s been clocking at 95-96 mph with the heater during the winter season thus far. At just 32 years of age he’s certainly worth the look on a basically no risk ... potential reward minor league deal.

From a Fan’s View welcome to the Phillies Neftali !
