Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 12/22. Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League :
Johan Rojas (CF) went 0 for 5 but RHP Jimmy Cordero (1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s) posted his fifth save of the season for the Gigantes del Cibao in a 5-3 win over the Tigres del Licey. RHP Yunior Marte pitched a perfect inning in relief for the Tigres. With the game result the Gigantes advance to the playoff round and the Tigres are eliminated. Jonathan Arauz (2B) went 1 for 4 (double) with two RBIs for the Leones del Escogido in a 11-3 win over the Estrellas Orientales that clinched a playoff spot for the Leones and eliminated the Estrellas from post season play.
Mexican Winter League :
Luis Verdugo (SS) was 3 for 5 (two singles & HR) with two RBIs for the Tomateros de Culiacán in a 9-4 win over the Venados de Mazatlán. RHP Alan Rangel pitched 1.1 perfect frames (3 K’s) for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in a 4-1 win against the Cañeros de Los Mochis.
Venezuela Winter League :
Leandro Pineda (LF) went 2 for 5 (two home runs) with a walk, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Navegantes del Magallanes in a 20-11 slugfest win over the Caribes de Anzoategui. Herlis Rodriguez (CF) went 2 for 3 (single & double) with three walks and two runs scored for the Caribes. Wilson Garcia (DH) was 2 for 4 (singles) with a run scored for the Bravos de Margarita in an 8-2 loss to the Leones del Caracas.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
RHP Andrew Baker pitched 1.1 perfect innings (1 K) for the Cangrejeros de Santurce in a 4-3 win against the Indios de Mayaguez. LHP Keylan Killgore pitched 1.1 scoreless innings (2 H) for the Indios. Vimael Machin (1B) went 3 for 4 (singles) with a walk, two RBIs and a run scored for the Criollos de Caguas in a 7-0 win against the Leones de Ponce.
