Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in fall/winter leagues from games played on 12/27 and 12/28 (Australia). Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League :
Round Robin Playoffs began : Jonathan Guzman (3B-SS) went 1 for 5 (single) with two RBIs for the Leones del Escogido in a 12-2 win over the Aguilas Cibaenas. Bryan De La Cruz (RF) went 4 for 5 (two singles, two doubles) with a run scored and two RBIs and Yairo Munoz (2B) was 2 for 3 (single & double) with two runs scored for the Toros del Este in a 11-3 win over the Gigantes del Cibao. Johan Rojas (CF) was 2 for 4 (single & two run HR) with two RBIs and a run scored for the Gigantes.
Mexican Winter League :
RHP Manuel Urias pitched six innings (1 unearned run, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s) and Nick Williams (RF) went 2 for 4 (singles) with a run scored for the Cañeros de Los Mochis in a 9-4 win against the Jaguares de Nayarit. RHP Efrain Contreras pitched a scoreless inning (1 H, 1 K) for the Yaquis de Obregón in a 2-1 victory over the Venados de Mazatlán. RHP Orlando Gonzalez pitched a scoreless inning (1 BB) as did RHP Fernando Salas (2 H) for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in a 10-0 loss to the Tucson Baseball Team.
Venezuela Winter League :
Leandro Pineda (RF-LF) went 2 for 5 (singles) with three RBIs for the Navegantes del Magallanes in a 11-5 win over the Cardenales de Lara. Simon Muzziotti (DH) was 2 for 5 (two doubles) with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Aguilas del Zulia in a 14-7 win over the Caribes de Anzoategui. Herlis Rodriguez (CF) was 4 for 5 (two singles, two doubles) with an RBI and run scored for the Caribes. Carlos Tocci (LF-RF) was 3 for 4 (singles) for the Tiburones de La Guaira in a 5-4 win against the Leones del Caracas.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
Dalton Guthrie (CF) was 3 for 4 (singles) for the Leones de Ponce in a 2-1 win over the Indios de Mayaguez. Jadiel Sanchez (RF) went 3 for 4 (singles) and LHP Ethan Lindow pitched five innings (1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K) for the Senadores de San Juan in a 4-1 loss to the Cangrejeros de Santurce.
Australian Baseball League :
The Adelaide Giants split a double header with the Perth Heat. In game one RHP Giuseppe Velasquez pitched five innings (2 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 62 pitches - 43 strikes) for the Giants in a 4-1 loss - Nick Ward (2B) went 1 for 3 (double) with an RBI. In game two Jose Colmenares (SS) was 2 for 4 (single & double) with a run scored and RBI, Nick Ward (2B-1B) 2 for 4 with a run scored and RBI, Devin Saltiban (CF) 1 for 2 (double), Robbie Glendinning (3B) 2 for 5 (singles) with a run scored, Jordan McArdle 1 for 3 (single) with a walk and RBI, Raylin Heredia (RF-CF) 1 for 4 (single) with an RBI, Mitchell Edwards (C) 1 for 3 (single) with a run scored and Manolfi Jimenez (LF) 1 for 4 (single) with a run scored for the Giants in an 8-6 win. RHP Danyony Pulido pitched an inning plus (4 R - 3 earned, 2 H, 4 BB - 45 pitches - 24 strikes) and RHP Todd Van Steensel went 1.2 innings (0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s) to close out the game for Adelaide.
