Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues from games played on 12/28. Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
A roundup article on my birthday - a day I’m honored to share as a birthday with Phillies legend Roly deArmas and former Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera.
Dominican Winter League :
Round Robin Playoffs : Bryan De La Cruz (RF) went 1 for 4 (single) with two walks, a run scored and RBI for the Toros del Este in a 8-7 ten inning loss to the Leones del Escogido. Johan Rojas (CF) was 1 for 5 (single) with two runs scored for the Gigantes del Cibao in a 10-6 loss to the Aguilas Cibaenas. RHP Jonathan Hernandez pitched 2/3 of an inning (0 R, 1 H - 10 pitches - 7 strikes) in relief for the Aguilas
Mexican Winter League :
RHP Alan Rangel pitched an inning (2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 21 pitches - 14 strikes) for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in a 6-5 win over the Yaquis de Obregón. Jorge Flores (SS) went 3 for 4 (two singles & double) for the Algodoneros de Guasave in a 5-4 win over the Tucson Baseball Team.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
RHP Carlos Francisco pitched 1.1 innings (1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s) for the Indios de Mayaguez in a 5-2 win against the Leones de Ponce. Vimael Machin (1B) went 2 for 5 (singles) for the Criollos de Caguas in a 10-1 win over the Gigantes de Carolina.
