Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in fall/winter leagues from games played on 12/3. Current Phillies bolded and underlined.
Dominican Winter League :
Bryan De La Cruz (RF) went 3 for 4 (singles) with two runs scored for the Toros del Este in a 7-4 win against the Leones del Escogido. Johan Rojas (CF) walked once in four plate appearances, stole two bases and scored a run for the Gigantes del Cibao in a 7-5 loss to the Estrellas Orientales.
Mexican Winter League :
RHP Alan Rangel pitched a perfect inning (2 K’s - 15 pitches - 11 strikes) in relief for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in an 11 innning 9-8 loss to the Tomateros de Culiacán. RHP Orlando Gonzalez took the loss (1/3 IP, 1 unearned R, 1 H, 1 BB - 7 pitches - 3 strikes). Joey Meneses (1B) was 3 for 5 (two singles & HR) with three RBIs, Jon Singleton (DH) 2 for 5 (single & double), Luis Verdugo (SS) 2 for 5 (singles) and LHP Anthony Gose pitched a perfect inning (1 K) for the Tomateros.
Venezuela Winter League :
Wilson Garcia (DH) went 2 for 4 (single & HR - 12th) with three RBIs for the Bravos de Margarita in a 8-6 win against the Aguilas del Zulia. Ali Castillo (2B) was 3 for 5 (two singles & HR) and Simon Muzziotti (RF) doubled for the Aguilas. RHP Andrew Schultz pitched a scoreless inning (0 H, 1 BB) for the Tigres de Aragua in a 8-3 win over the Leones del Caracas. Aldrem Corredor (1B) hit two home runs and drove in three runs for the Leones.
Colombian Winter League :
Nolan Beltran (SS) was 1 for 2 (single), walked twice and scored a run for the Tigres de Cartagena in a 6-3 loss to the Vaqueros de Monteria.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
Postponed - Rain.
Other Off-Season Notes :
Outfielder/First Baseman Leandro Pineda has signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.
