2/26/26 : Spring Training to me

The only time of year where all of the stateside players, coaches and managers are gathered in one place is spring training. There’s an expansive practice schedule each day with multiple sessions often running concurrently at both the complex and stadium making it impossible to see it all. It’s why I try to summarize as best I can in a daily report the day’s activity.
Sometimes navigating the complex can be challenging - since there are so many employee vehicles to park the complex lot has now been restricted to “staff only” parking. Sometimes I come later in the day as minor league live BP’s are usually in the afternoon - there are usually open spots in the complex lot at that time (players leave as their practice schedules conclude) as was the case the other day however I was turned away and told to park up by the stadium instead. It’s not a terrible trek from there to the complex but to folks like my wife and I who both have knee issues it’s a challenge. It made me feel that day as if I didn’t belong there given that most everyone in the complex knows what I do in regard to writing about the player development process. Just another obstacle to overcome. We will persevere.
I don’t advertise my site - never have and never will, not my thing - I do get quite a few player’s family members and friends as daily readers. We’ve added some more this spring (2025 draftee families) - to those that have joined I welcome you and am hopeful that my coverage informs ya all what your ballplayer is doing each day - it’s truly why I started writing the blog years ago.
Many folks leave ST games after the fifth inning or so - if we are able my wife and I watch the entire game as the later innings are most often when the minor league call ups or minor league NRI’s play - those are the young men I follow during the season so it’s of intrigue to me to see them get some Grapefruit League innings - to each their own though as most folks are only truly concerned about the major league club.
Everything I write is from a personal perspective - I am a fan only - I only have access to where every other fan can be. I can’t post photos of restricted areas on social media like some Phillies employees do - my site is truly from “A Fan’s View” just like any other fan. Sometimes I wish I could do more but it is what it is.
I’m fortunate enough to be able do what I do as a retiree - I don’t take that for granted. Spring training to me is an opportunity to watch the game I love daily and share with others what I’ve learned and seen each day. Just an ordinary nobody who gets a chance to afford a “fan’s view” - that’s what spring training is to me.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️

Note : I've partnered with Fanatics on Phillies Merchandise - if you would like to help support my website and articles here's a link to order merchandise - I get a small commission on any sales - thanks for the support.
