2/27/23 : Today at Spring Training

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

Live Bullpen :

Mick Abel threw a two inning morning live BP ( including an up/down pause in between frames ) at 9:30 on Roberts Field at the complex against Rhys Hoskins & Kyle Schwarber with Aramis Garcia catching him.

Mick threw fastball, curve, slider and I think a few change-ups.  Rhys Hoskins noted to pitching coach Caleb Cotham how the shape of the ball altered on the slider at different velocities - I chatted with Mick after the session and he said the feedback from the two veteran hitters was really helpful.  He posted two strikeouts, a couple 4-3 groundouts, a 5-3 ground out and two fly outs - walked one.  Schwarber put one pitch over the left field fence and hit another for a single to left field - Hoskins gave him props for going opposite field.

A good outing for the young right hander - said he felt good and is ready to contribute wherever he starts the season - has a winning attitude to couple with top shelf stuff - definitely legit.
