Game Summary : Tigers 9 Phillies 8

Odubel Herrera homered on the first pitch he saw in the first inning.

Wilson Ramos singled to score Jonathan Schoop ( doubled ) for the Tigers in the second inning.

The Phillies loaded the bases in the fourth inning ( double by Odubel, walks to Matt Joyce & Scott Kingery ). Darick Hall cleared them with a triple to the center field wall. They reloaded the bases as Nick Maton and Luke Williams both walked. Adam Haseley cleared the sacks again with a double ! They sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning. Ronald Torreyes left the game after his AB with an apparent injury - he was hit by the ball swinging the bat ( as called by the umpire ) on a strikeout. ( X-rays later proved negative on his hand where he was hit - sb ok, was scheduled to be off tomorrow anyways ).

Matt Vierling singled to score Johan Rojas ( singled & advanced on a Travis Jankowski walk ) in the eighth inning.

Grayson Greiner homered for Detroit to lead off the eighth inning. They then loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter. A run scored on a sac fly to center field. They reloaded the bases on a single and scored two more on a double by Victor Reyes. Their next four runs scored on bases loaded walks. Detroit scored eight runs in the inning.

The Phillies used four pitchers in the eighth inning issuing seven walks and a hit batter plus botched a rundown that would have ended the inning ... 😳 what a mess.
