Pitchers and catchers physicals today as full scale minor league camp approaches. It was an otherwise scheduled off day at the Complex to allow for the physicals and check ins to occur. Full scale Pitchers and Catchers practice begins tomorrow morning.
Among the group checking in today was newly signed Catcher Karl Ellison ( signed on 3/2/22 ). He’s 26 years old and played in the Frontier League for Lake Erie in 2019 and 2021. Karl played collegiately at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida in 2017 after transferring from Vanderbilt where he played from 2014 to 2016. He was the starting catcher in the NCAA championship game for the 2014 Vanderbilt squad. Ellison will get a shot to show what he can do in minor league camp with three catchers ( Rafael Marchan, Donnie Sands and Garrett Stubbs ) ineligible to participate because they are on the 40 man roster. Best wishes to the young man.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
