3/4/24 : Today in Spring Training

Minor League Camp :

Meetings day for camp - limited on field activities in the afternoon - twelve pitchers threw side bullpens on the seven mounds - one pitcher (Sam Aldegheri) threw a live BP.

Grapefruit League Game Eleven :

Blue Jays 5 Phillies 2

Dunedin, Florida

Was at the game for about four innings and did something I rarely ever do - leave early.  The configuration of the Jays spring home puts the majority of the seats in the hot sun with very little air flow as it’s a bowl like setting, it turns into a sauna with a big crowd like was there today.  I purposely buy seats in the top row where there’s shade and air flow however folks who are suffering from the heat below invariably climb to the top and stand behind us in what’s not supposed to be a standing area.  It’s a claustrophobic feeling so we left.  I’ll buy tickets when the Threshers play there (not many folks attend) but today’s the last time I purchase spring training games for the Dunedin park - just sayin.

The Jays scored a run in the first inning on a Vladimir Guerrero Jr home run.  The Phillies answered with a run in the fourth as Bryson Stott tripled and scored on a double by Aramis Garcia.

Toronto plated three in the fifth on a hit batter, walk and three singles.  The Phillies scored a run in the seventh as Weston Wilson doubled and scored on a single by Kody Clemens.  Toronto scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh on a walk, wild pitch and RBI single.

At the Plate : 2 R, 10 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s

Kody Clemens went 2 for 2 with two singles and a RBI.  Aramis Garcia and Weston Wilson doubled, Bryson Stott tripled.

Note : Johan Rojas put down a perfect bunt hit down the third base line in his first AB of the game.
