The break camp roster consists of 18 pitchers, 4 catchers, 5 infielders and 3 outfielders.

Pitchers : 18

Starters :

A six man rotation with interchangeable parts is the norm for the A level of play. Bulk relievers often have an impact on the six game sets each week and some weeks they even move into the weekly starter log. With that being said I believe that ten pitchers will be in the mix of starters/bulk relievers to open the season for Clearwater.

Two 2024 Philly local un-drafted free agent signings have been stretched out this spring as starters and each is set to make their professional debut as part of the Threshers rotation. RH Zack Tukis (22 yrs old) is a high velocity arm that impressed immensely this spring, he played collegiately at Millersville University and appeared in 19 games over three seasons there, all in relief. The Phillies saw a starter’s repertoire after signing him and thus far in his spring outings he’s done very well. RH Ryan Dromboski (21 yrs old) signed as a free agent in August after pitching his college baseball at the University of Pennsylvania where he made 26 starts in 33 appearances, he also was a starter in the Cape Cod League.  Ryan uses a three pitch mix with his slider being his go to delivery.

RH Ryan Degges (22 yrs old) will also begin the season as a starter - he was taken in the 17th round of the 2024 draft from UNC Charlotte as a reliever but will be given the chance as a professional to throw extended innings, he’s got mid nineties heat along with a sweeper and change up. Gabriel Barbosa (23 yrs old) came over from the Yankees organization in the December minor league rule five draft - he logged 120.1 innings for low-A Tampa in 2024 in 24 appearances (20 starts) and had two complete games. RH Jake Eddington (23 yrs old) returns to Clearwater after pitching there and at Jersey Shore in 2024, the 7th round draft selection from 2023 (Missouri State) has been stretched out this spring for starting and bulk relief work. RH Enrique Segura (20 yrs old) is the youngest pitcher on the opening day staff, he finished last season with the Threshers and returns to open the year as part of the rotation, despite struggling a bit this spring with command he’s got an Aaron Nola like delivery and curve ball with mid to upper nineties heat as well.  RH Marcus Morgan (22 yrs old) will also be making his pro debut - the 9th round selection in the 2024 draft from the University of Iowa has a big arm and is one of the most athletically gifted pitchers in the system - it’s a matter of harnessing control for him as the stuff can be electric. RH Cam Brown (23 yrs old) battled shoulder issues last summer after being drafted in the 10th round of the 2023 draft from TCU - he’s another big arm hurler who made 24 of his 33 collegiate appearances as a starter, now healthy, he’s set to show what he can do. Right handers Sam Highfill (24 yrs old - North Carolina State ) and Reese Dutton (23 yrs old - University of Kansas) were both signed as un-drafted free agents last summer and finished the season as Threshers pitching mostly in bulk relief.  Each returns to the opening day Clearwater roster to continue their careers.

Relievers :

RH Titan Hayes (23 yrs old) has punched triple digits velocity multiple times last season and this spring, the confident young men is set to shine at the back end of the Threshers bullpen - he was drafted in the 11th round of the 2024 draft and could be a quick riser thru the system this summer. RH Marty Gair was drafted in the 13th round of the 2023 draft from Florida Southwestern State Junior College - he almost immediately had TJ surgery thereafter and hasn’t pitched in a pro game yet as a result but I’ve seen bullpens and there’s a lot to like - a big frame (6’6”) with upper nineties velocity and an over the top release point can make him a very formidable bullpen option - he’s one I believe is going to do very well now that he’s healthy and back in action. The Clearwater pen rounds out with 2024 draft selections RH Luke Gabrysh (21 yrs old), LH Erik Ritchie (21 yrs old), RH Eli Trop (22 yrs old) and LH AJ Wilson (24 yrs old) along with 2024 Threshers returnees Jose Pena Jr (21 yrs old) and Saul Teran (22 yrs old).

Catchers : 4

Eduardo Tait (18 yrs old) will be the primary catcher, he’s a standout who’s on an upper level track both as a hitter and defender, is very fun to watch - he returns to Clearwater as a key component in the middle of the lineup. 2024 6th round draft choice from the University of Kansas Kodey Shojinaga (22 yrs old) also returns to Clearwater - in addition to catching he will see action at first base as will 20 year old Kehden Hettiger (2023 11th round draft choice). Rounding out the catching corps is 23 year old Lou Albrecht who spent his offseason playing for Adelaide in the Australian Baseball League - he was signed in 2023 as an un-drafted free agent from Central Arizona Junior College.

Infielders : 5

Twenty year old Aroon Escobar will spearhead the infield - the powerfully built slugger has had a great spring and will see most of his action as a second baseman albeit third base is in his mix as well. Nolan Beltran (20 yrs old) and Diego Gonzalez (21 yrs old) will share shortstop, both are versatile defenders who can play all four infield spots. Raider Tello (24 yrs old) will play mostly at either third base or at first but he’s also able to handle second base. Brady Day (23 yrs old) will be the primary third baseman - he’s had a great spring defensively, he was selected in the 10th round of the 2024 draft from Kansas State University and also plays second base.

Outfielders : 3

2024 first round draft selection Dante Nori will lead off most nights and play center field, the very fast twenty year old has has a good spring and has all the tools to excel. Carter Mathison (22 yrs old) is a lefty power bat who’s capable of playing all three outfield spots but has seen most of his spring action in right field, he was drafted in the 5th round of the 2024 draft. Avery Owusu-Asiedu (21 yrs old) returns for his second straight Threshers opening day, he finished spring camp strong offensively and is a solid defender - last season he played mostly center field but has been in left field almost exclusively this spring. Avery was selected in the 9th round of the 2023 draft from Southern Illinois- Edwardsville University.

Rehab Assignment  : 1

Joel Dragoo is assigned to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws roster but is beginning the season on rehab assignment with the Threshers. Dragoo (22 yrs old) has been slowed this spring by some nagging setbacks but he’s ready to go on assignment - a professional hitter who will see a lot of innings in the corner spots.

That’s the camp breakout roster - best wishes for a successful year all around.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
