Simulated Game : Five Innings

Albertus Barber (two innings), Ty Collins (one inning) and Matt Seelinger (two innings) pitched for the home team while Jonathan Petit (two innings), Seth Nightingale (two innings) and Daniel Mejia (one inning) pitched for the visitors.

Barber threw really well, both his fastball and slider had great life, Albertus struck out five batters.  I like the arm slot that Nightingale delivers his pitches from, hides the ball well as it’s a long armed delivery with what seems a bit below three quarters release - ball gets on hitters quickly, he’s got decent velocity.   Mejia showed a slow hook today that had hitters swinging thru it.

Matt Alifano had the lone extra base hit of the day, a double.  Center fielder Yhoswar Garcia ran down a well hit ball to the left center field gap to take extra bases away from Ezra Farmer who came to camp this year having obviously spent a good bit of time in the weight room, the Phillies off-season strength and conditioning training program is a game changer for those who take advantage of it.  Ricardo Rosario made another good catch in center field, the club has a good group of defenders with wheels in the outfield, other than pitching I think outfield and catching are the areas with the most depth.

Jhailyn Ortiz is here for a bit to get re-acclimated before re-joining the Iron Pigs.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
