International League ( AAA ) - Scranton-Wilkes Barre 8 (12-5) Lehigh Valley 4 (7-8)

Moosic, PA - PNC Field


Summary :


SWB scored four runs in the third inning, three on a home run by Everson Pereira.


SWB scored two runs in the sixth inning on a walk, hit batter and double.


Jordan Luplow singled in the 7th, Weston Wilson walked. David Dahl singled to score Luplow.  Scott Kingery hit a three run home run.


Everson Pereira hit his 2nd home run of the game in the 7th inning for SWB.   A hit batter, single and two walks scored an 8th inning run.


At Bat : 4 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 10 K’s


Esteban Quiroz had two hits (singles).  Scott Kingery hit a three run home run.


On The Hill :  8 R, 7 H, 6 BB, 13 K’s


Mick Abel went five innings, 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 7 K’s.  Nick Nelson pitched an inning - 2 R, 1 H, 1 HB, 1 BB, 2 K’s.  Zac Houston pitched an inning, 1 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s.  Tyler McKay pitched an inning - 1 R, 1 H, 1 HB, 2 BB, 2 K’s.

Game One : Binghamton 4 Reading 3 - 8 innings


Summary :


Carson Taylor singled in the third inning, he went to third on a single by Gabriel Rincones Jr  and scored on a single by Carlos De La Cruz.


Christian McGowan retired the first eight batters he faced before a double, hit batter and double scored two runs for Binghamton in the third inning.


Kendall Simmons smoked a line drive home run (331 feet -98 mph off the bat) over the left field fence in the fourth inning.


Marcus Lee Sang homered to left field in the sixth inning.


Binghamton scored a run in the sixth inning on a fielding error, wild pitch and single.


The game went into extra innings tied at three.  Binghamton won the game in the eighth scoring the placed runner with a single.


On The Hill : 4 R, 6 H, 6 BB, 6 K’s


Christian McGowan pitched well in his first outing of the season and at the AA level - he went 3.2 innings - 2 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 66 pitches - 42 strikes - he threw a sinker (91-94 mph), slider and change up mix.  Carlos Francisco pitched 1.1 innings, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K - stranded two inherited runners.  Andrew Baker pitched an inning - 1 unearned R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K. Tristan Garnett pitched 1.1 innings, 1 unearned R, 2 H, 3 BB.


At Bat : 3 R, 7 H, 2 BB, 7 K’s


Gabriel Rincones Jr had three hits (two singles & double).  Kendall Simmons and Marcus Lee Sang homered.


Game Two : Reading 7 Binghamton 4 - 8 innings


Summary :


Binghamton scored two runs in the 5th inning on three singles with a stolen base in the middle.


Jose Rodriquez doubled in the 6th inning, he scored after advancing on a couple ground outs.


A fielding error (missed pop-up) and two doubles scored two runs for Binghamton in the 6th.


Marcus Lee Sang tripled in the 7th, William Simoneit was hit by a pitch.  Jose Rodriquez reached on an error - Lee Sang scored.  Robert Moore singled to score a run.  A wild pitch allowed another run to score.


In the 8th Trevor Schwecke singled and Marcus Lee Sang walked to load the bases with the placed runner already on board. William Simoneit doubled to score two runs.  Casey Martin hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.


On The Hill : 4 R, 8 H, 1 BB, 8 K’s


Matt Osterberg pitched very well - 5 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 0 BB, 5 K’s.  Jordi Martinez pitched an inning - 2 R - 1 earned, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K.

Tommy McCollum pitched two innings - 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s.


At Bat : 7 R, 9 H, 1 BB, 10 K’s


Jose Rodriquez had two hits (single & double).  Trevor Schwecke had two hits (singles).  Marcus Lee Sang tripled. William Simoneit doubled.

Summary :


Zach Arnold tripled in the third inning, he scored on a single by Erick Brito.


A walk, fielding error,hit batter and bases loaded walk scored a run for Brooklyn in the seventh.  A hit batter, wild pitch and two walks scored three more.


Chad Castillo and Zach Arnold singled in the seventh, two walks followed to force in a run.  Justin Crawford was hit by a pitch to force in another run.  Felix Reyes hit a high pop to short (called infield fly rule) that the wind took and was missed by the shortstop - a run scored in the play (I should have mentioned earlier the wind was gusting left to right like crazy 😳).


Brooklyn scored two runs in the 8th inning on a walk and three singles.


On The Hill : 6 R, 9 H, 8 BB, 9 K’s


Jean Cabrera was “stupendous” as my friend Greg Giombarrese put it on the broadcast 👍👏👀 - 6 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 87 pitches - 52 strikes - he’s now posted a 0.56 ERA in three games (16 IP) with only 4 walks and 18 K’s 🔥 with a 0.94 WHIP.  Danny Wilkinson pitched 2/3 of an inning - 3 R, 0 H, 1 HB, 1 BB, 2 K’s.  Daniel Harper inherited three runners, they all scored - he did not record an out - faced 4 batters - 3 walks, 1 HBP - 1 R.  Gunner Mayer pitched an inning - 2 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 K.  Andrew Walling pitched 1.1 innings - 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s.


At Bat : 4 R, 7 H, 5 BB, 11 K’s


Zach Arnold had two hits (single & triple).


Defensive Gem :


Catcher Jordan Dissin backhanded a low pitch in the 8th inning and threw a strike to first base to back pick the runner - it was an outstanding stop and great throw👀.

Summary :


Dunedin scored a run in the third inning on a throwing error, two wild pitches and a single.


Ricardo Rosario doubled in the sixth inning, he scored on a double by Keaton Anthony.  Anthony advanced to third base on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch.


Dunedin scored three runs in the 6th on two walks, two hit batters, a single and ground out.


Avery Owusu-Asiedu walked in the 6th, Nikau Pouaka-Grego was hit by a pitch.  They both advanced on a wild pitch, a run scored on a fielders choice.


Dunedin scored a run in the 7th on a walk and double.


Nikau Pouaka-Grego walked in the 9th, Luis Caicuto singled to send him to third base. Keaton Anthony singled to score a run.


On The Hill : 5 R, 5 H, 5 BB, 14 K’s


George Klassen was once again very very good - 5 IP, 1 unearned R, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K’s - 74 pitches - 50 strikes - FB 95-98 mph, cutter and curve - on the season in three starts - 15 IP, 24 K’s, 4 BB, 0.00 ERA - yep he’s yet to yield an earned run 👀 - 0.38 WHIP.  Ethan Chenault pitched an inning - 3 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K.  Jose Pena Jr pitched two innings, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 K’s 🔥👀 - FB hit 96 mph, nasty slider to go with it.


At Bat : 4 R, 6 H, 4 BB, 9 K’s


Keaton Anthony had three hits (two singles, double).  Nikau Pouaka-Grego and Ricardo Rosario doubled.


Defensive Gems :


Center fielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu made a tremendous over the shoulder catch banging into the fence on a hard hit ball (102 mph off the bat) in the second inning - robbed at least a double 👀.


Third baseman Nikau Pouaka-Grego made a diving stop of a hard ground down the line, jumped to his feet and threw a seed to first base to record the out - he too stole a double👀.
