International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 6 ( 6-7 ) Rochester 1 ( 7-6 )

Summary :


The Iron Pigs scored four runs in the third inning - John Andreoli tripled, Roman Quinn walked, Andreoli scored on a groundout by Odubel Herrera. Darick Hall singled to score Quinn, Jorge Bonifacio walked - Nick Maton doubled to score both Hall and Bonifacio.


Rochester scored a run in the fourth - former Iron Pig Joey Meneses doubled, he scored on an error by second baseman Yairo Munoz.


Roman Quinn doubled to score Will Toffey ( walked ) in the seventh inning, Quinn advanced to third on the play and scored on a errant throw on a pickoff attempt.


On The Hill :

Summary :


Harrisburg scored twice in the first inning on two doubles, a walk and sac fly. Taylor Gushue hit a two run home run in the third inning for them. They scored four in the fourth on two doubles and a couple fielding errors. Three more scored in the fifth - one on a bases loaded walk and two on a sacks full single.


Jhailyn Ortiz doubled in the 3rd inning to score Logan O’Hoppe ( singled ) - Reading scored another run in the bottom of the 5th on a fielding error.


Kevin Vicuña produced an RBI double in the bottom of the 8th inning.


Harrisburg scored a run in the 9th on a home run by Mitch Longo.


Vito Friscia doubled to score Jhailyn Ortiz ( singled ) and Logan O’Hoppe ( HBP ) in the 9th inning.


On The Hill :

Summary :


Asheville scored in the first inning on a walk, double and ground out.


Jersey Shore plated five in their half of the first - Johan Rojas walked and scored on a double by Luis Garcia. Ethan Wilson reached on a error, Casey Martin walked. Nick Matera singled to score Garcia. Wilson scored on a ground out by Baron Radcliff. DJ Stewart doubled to score two more.


Asheville scored in the fifth on a walk, single, hit batter and wild pitch. They added three runs in the sixth on a bases loaded walk, a single and a bases loaded hit batter.


Nick Matera hit a two run home run in the 8th inning scoring Ethan Wilson ( reached on an error ) in front of him.


On The Hill :

Florida State League ( Low A ) - Clearwater 2 ( 2-8 ) Tampa 1 ( 6-4 )

Summary :


In the second inning Marcus Lee Sang reached base on catchers interference, he advanced to third on a single by Arturo DeFreitas and scored on a balk.


Tampa scored in the 3rd inning on a bases loaded hit batter - they had loaded the sacks on two walks and a single.


Clearwater won the game with a 9th inning walkoff single by Arturo DeFreitas - Jadiel Sanchez singled, advanced to third on a bunt by Kendall Simmons on which the Tampa pitcher made a throwing error. Sanchez scored on the single by DeFreitas.


On The Hill :


RH Micah Ottenbreit - 2 2/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 HB, 3 K’s - 47 pitches - 22 strikes

LH Gabriel Yanez - 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 31 pitches - 20 strikes - excellent outing

RH Alex Garbrick - 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 41 pitches - 21 strikes - FB reached 95 mph

Jadiel Sanchez & Arturo DeFreitas each had two hits.


Notes :


I attended this game in person - was impressed with the “stuff’ that starter Micah Ottenbreit displayed, ball has terrific action and movement - breaking pitches and changeup are consistent swing and miss deliveries - he’s got a real chance of being a big leaguer some day.

Extended Spring Training :


Today was a camp day - highlight of the workouts were three live BP sessions in the early afternoon. RHP Jonas De La Cruz ( 24 yrs old ), RHP Daniel Mejia ( 20 yrs old ) and LHP Jose Acuna ( 19 yrs old ) each threw.
