The Iron Pigs return home to Allentown where they will open a six game series with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders on Tuesday, April 6th (6:45 game time).
Iron Pigs Roster Moves :
Jeff Hoffman (30 year old RHP) has signed a minor league contract with the Phillies and was added to the Iron Pigs roster. Hoffman was released by the Minnesota Twins on 3/28/23 after appearing in spring training as a non-roster invitee. He’s pitched in the major leagues each of the last seven seasons, from 2016 to 2020 with the Colorado Rockies and the past two seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.
Hoffman has both started and relieved, in 134 major league games he’s made 50 starts, he’s posted a career 5.68 ERA in 348 1/3 IP. He appeared in 35 games last season with the Reds pitching a total of 44 2/3 innings and recorded a 3.83 ERA.
His pitch repertoire consists of a four seamer (94-96 mph), curve, change-up and a slider. The change-up is a plus pitch. In 2016 he was the 1st round draft selection of the Toronto Blue Jays (9th overall selection) from East Carolina University. This spring he was consistently in the upper nineties with his fastball, he had an opt out in his contract if not on the Twins opening day roster and chose to take it.
LHP Nick Allgeyer was placed on the Development List retroactive to 4/1/23 - players placed on the development list remain eligible to stay with the affiliate team and train rather than return to the Player Development Complex.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore - opens season 4/7/23 at Brooklyn
Florida State League ( Low A ) Clearwater - opens season 4/7/23 at Bradenton
Extended Spring Training Schedule :
Multiple players weren’t able to be assigned to an affiliate roster and will continue their training at Carpenter Complex working with the Phillies Player Development Center staff in what’s commonly referred to as Extended Spring Training. Similar to the Florida Complex League games will be played against the Tigers, Yankees and Jays extended spring training rosters.
The Phillies schedule of extended spring training games (24 games) will begin on Tuesday, April 18th and run thru Friday, June 2nd. Games are played on each team’s complex fields with game times at 1:00 PM Monday thru Friday, no games are scheduled on Sundays. Alterations to the schedule often occur, presently all Saturdays are listed as Camp Days however if games are re-scheduled to be played on those dates they will be 10:00 AM starts.
