Both the first and second games of the series were postponed due to weather.
The two teams will make up the games at a later date to be determined. The IronPigs and Red Wings are now slated to begin their series on Thursday, April 4 at 1:05 p.m.
At the Complex - Clearwater, FL
Last evening (4/2/24) in the BayCare Ballpark stadium the Clearwater Threshers played a six and half inning scrimmage against the extended spring training group - also referred to as the Player Development Center (PDC). The scrimmage was not open to the public.
At Bat :
Designated hitter Eduardo Tait had two hits (2 for 3 - single & double) for the PDC as did center fielder Ricardo Rosario (also 2 for 3 - singled and doubled - with an RBI) and first baseman Lou Helmig (2 for 3 - two singles). Left fielder Yemal Flores went 1 for 2 (single). Shortstop Aidan Miller was 1 for 2 (single) with a stolen base for Clearwater.
On The Hill :
Orion Kerkering threw a perfect inning for the PDC in a rehab appearance (16 pitches - 10 strikes - FB sat 96 mph). Also for the PDC Wilmer Blanco started and went two innings (1 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s - FB - 91-94 mph). Alexis De La Cruz pitched two innings (0 H, 1 BB, 1 K - FB - 92-94 mph) and Cristian Hernandez threw a perfect inning (2 K’s - FB - 92-93 mph).
For Clearwater Micah Ottenbreit started and went three innings (3 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - FB - 91-94 mph), Luke Russo went two innings (2 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - FB - 91-93 mph), Jaydenn Estanista (1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - FB - 93-95 mph) and Jose Peña Jr (1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - FB 93-95 mph) each threw an inning.
