Summary :
Dalton Guthrie homered over the left field wall in the bottom of the first inning.
Vimael Machín homered over the right field wall in the fourth inning.
SWB scored a run in the fifth inning on three singles.
Oswald Peraza doubled to score Elijah Dunham (walked) for SWB in the 8th to tie the game. An errant throw to first base on a fielded ground ball by Shortstop Scott Kingery allowed Peraza to score. Willie Calhoun doubled, an intentional walk and hit batter scored another run.

Right fielder Dustin Peterson laid out to make a diving catch on a fly ball down the line to end the fourth inning. Left fielder Simon Muzziotti made a leaping catch on the run to record the second out of the eighth inning.

Player Development Center Training - Carpenter Complex
Summary :
We watched a seven inning intra-squad scrimmage which began at 11 AM, pitching was the highlight of the outing. Christopher Sanchez threw very well, was consistently in the strike zone albeit a couple pitches sailed on him that he got underneath. Overall he seemed much crisper than when we saw him last Saturday, completed three innings and then faced an extra hitter in the third frame to get to his pitch count. Liked what I saw from Jonathan Petit also, pitched down in the zone with zip and movement.
Yhoswar Garcia and Ricardo Rosario hit the ball well, both are speedsters but we’ve seen them also show the ability to drive the ball. Yhoswar one hopped a long fly over the left center field fence for a double. Cole Moore just missed on a couple long flys to the warning track that would have went out had he not gotten slightly underneath them with his swings.
Randy Vasquez and Kliubert Avila made the defensive play of the day. Sometimes in these backfield scrimmages there aren’t enough players to man every position, that was the case on the highlight play - with no one playing second base Vasquez moved closer to the middle from his shortstop position, then ranged far to his right and fielded a ground ball off the bat of Felix Reyes that was headed to right center field, he pivoted and made a jump throw to home plate from short right field where a runner was approaching attempting to score from second base. Catcher Kliubert Avila made a nice short-hop snag of the throw and a diving tag to record the out! Players who were sitting behind the home plate area erupted in awe and jubilation over the play - it was indeed good stuff !

RH Jose Peña - 2 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s - has put away stuff - battled command
RH Jonathan Petit - 2 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - good pop on FB, swing & miss velocity, down in the zone, good outing
RH Seth Nightingale - 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 HB, 0 K’s - solid outing, unique arm slot, good velocity and movement
RH Ty Collins - 1 IP, 1 unearned R, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K - defense let him down but battled out of it, best FB we’ve seen from him today
RH Malik Binns - 2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 0 K’s - battled control/command, strong first inning, struggled in 2nd, has stuff to compete
RH Nathan Karaffa - 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - good breaking ball today with life on express also, best we’ve seen him
At the Bat :
Ricardo Rosario had two hits (single & double) as did Yhoswar Garcia (single,double and a walk). Kliubert Avila doubled and walked three times. Jack Conley drew two walks. Gavin Tonkel, Alexeis Azuaje, Leonardo Rondon, Ryan Leitch and Felix Reyes each hit singles.
