Doubleheader - two seven inning games


Game One : Lehigh Valley 4 Columbus 0


Summary :


1B Darick Hall hit a three run home run deep over the right field wall in the first inning to score CF Dalton Guthrie ( doubled ) and DH Donnie Sands ( walked ) in front of him.

Dalton Guthrie walked in the third inning, went to second on a passed ball, to third on a fielders choice and scored on a wild pitch.


Columbus loaded the bases in the top of the seventh on walks but Jeff Singer pitched out of it and ended the contest with a strikeout.

On The Hill :


LH Ricardo Sanchez - 3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 35 pitches - 22 strikes - excellent outing - faced only 10 batters

RH Mark Appel - 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 HB, 0 K’s - 33 pitches - 20 strikes

LH Jeff Singer - 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s - 36 pitches - 16 strikes

Game Two : Columbus 4 Lehigh Valley 2


Summary :


Nick Maton doubled to right center field to score Ronald Torreyes ( singled ) in the third inning. Donny Sands singled to score Maton.


Oscar Gonzalez and David Fry hit back to back home runs for Columbus in the 4th inning. They added an unearned run in the fifth inning on a single, two errors ( Maton & Barrett ) and a sac fly.


On The Hill :

Summary :


Matt Kroon drew a walk in the bottom of the first and was then thrown out attempting to steal second base by former Phillies minor leaguer Rodolfo Duran. Kroon was injured on the play and was helped off the field with an apparent left leg injury.


Somerset scored twice in the second inning on a hit sequence of double, single, single, double. Brandon Lockridge and Oliver Dunn had the doubles.


Rodolfo Duran hit a solo home run for Somerset in the fourth inning. They scored a run in the 5th inning on an RBI double by Josh Breaux and three more on three singles and another double by Oliver Dunn.


Reading scored in the bottom of the seventh as Wendell Rijo singled, went to second on a walk to Vito Friscia, to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by Jonathan Guzman.


Josh Ockimey ( doubled ) scored on a double by Logan O’Hoppe in the 8th inning.


Josh Breaux hit a three run home run for Somerset in the ninth inning.


On The Hill :

Summary :


Connor Norby doubled for Aberdeen in the first inning and subsequently scored on a sac fly.


The IronBirds scored twice in the third inning on a single, double and single.


DJ Stewart went yard for Jersey Shore in the 4th inning for the BlueClaws first run.


On The Hill :

Summary :


Fort Myers scored a run in the second inning on a double by Dillon Tatum and an RBI single by Dylan Neuse. The run scored on a throwing error. Emmanuel Rodriquez hit a two run home run for Fort Myers in the fifth inning.


Hao Yu Lee delivered a two run bloop single to right field scoring Yhoswar Garcia and Jamari Baylor ( both walked ) in the sixth inning.


Fort Myers added a run in the 9th inning on a bases loaded walk - the 3-2 pitch was originally called a strike but the league is using a challenge system - the batter challenged the call and the ABS system had the pitch as a ball so the umpires call was overturned and a run scored 🤪. I wonder what Mr. Kruk would say about that rule 🤷‍♂️😳.


On The Hill :


RH Andrew Painter - 3 IP, 1 unearned R, 3 H, 1 BB, 9 K’s - 58 pitches - 40 strikes - four seamer ( 95-98 mph ), curve ( 74-80 ), sinker ( 88 ), changeup ( 86 ) and cutter ( 96 ). Outstanding first appearance of the season.


RH Tommy McCollum - 2 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 37 pitches - 19 strikes
