5/11/22 : Wednesday Matinee Baseball in Kentucky


South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore 9 ( 10-17 ) Bowling Green 3 ( 17-11 ) - noon start


Bowling Green, KY - Bowling Green Ballpark


Summary :


With two outs in the fourth inning Casey Martin singled, he scored on a double by Nick Matera. McCarthy Tatum singled to send Matera to third base. Baron Radcliff reached base on a fielding error on which Matera scored. After Tatum and Radcliff pulled off a double steal Jared Carr walked to load the bases. DJ Stewart singled to score two runs. Karl Ellison doubled to score two more runs. Johan Rojas singled to score Ellison but was then thrown out at second base trying to stretch his hit into a double. The seven runs were the most given up in an inning by the Bowling Green team this season.

McCarthy Tatum tripled in the 5th inning to score Casey Martin ( reached on fielders choice ).

Bowling Green scored two runs in the 7th inning on a single, double and a couple ground outs.


Jared Carr hammered a lead off home run over the right center field fence in the ninth inning.


The BG Hot Rods scored a run in the bottom of the ninth on two doubles.


On The Hill :


RH Griff McGarry - 4 IP - 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 7 K’s - 51 pitches - 39 strikes - consistently in the 94 to 97 mph range with fastball - overpowered a very good Bowling Green lineup.


LH Ethan Lindow - 3 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 47 pitches - 35 strikes

RH Andrew Baker - 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - registered 97-98 mph with fastball offset with slider 83-85 mph

LH JP Woodward - 1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 17 pitches - 15 strikes


At Bat : 10 H, 3 BB, 9 K;s


McCarthy Tatum had two hits including a triple. Ethan Wilson had two hits. Nick Matera & Karl Ellison each doubled. Casey Martin scored twice. DJ Stewart & Karl Ellison had two RBIs apiece. Jared Carr homered and scored twice.


Notes :


Catcher Karl Ellison showed off the gun throwing out Osleivis Basabe at second base in a stolen base attempt in the second inning 💪.


Johan Rojas has hit the ball really well the last two games - only one hit today but he’s starting to feel it, smoked a ball in the ninth inning that the BG right fielder ran down - watch for good things to come.
