Tale of Two Halves for the Pitching Staff - Last week’s series against Somerset was nearly a tale of two halves. Over the first three games of the series, Reading’s pitching staff allowed 30-earned runs over 27 innings, which was a 10.00 ERA. Across the final three contests of the week, the staff surrendered just seven-earned run over 27 frames, good for a 2.33 ERA. If you factor out six-Somerset runs on Friday, the Fightin Phils pitching staff allowed just one-earned run over the final 18 innings of the series (0.50 ERA). Reading’s defense helped a ton too, turning an Eastern-League best nine double plays on the week, including three twin killings on Sunday. - Jake Starr - Reading Director of PR/Media Relations, Client Fulfillment & Broadcaster
