5/16/26 : Phillies sign three to minor league deals

Veteran RHP Lou Trivino has re-signed with the Phillies on a minor league contract and has reported to Lehigh Valley. The 34 year old reliever began the season with the IronPigs posting a 2.77 ERA in ten appearances (13 IP). He opted out of his contact on 5/1 and signed a major league deal with the Baltimore Orioles. Lou appeared in two games (3 IP) with the Orioles and was tagged with six runs on six hits - Baltimore designated him for assignment on 5/10, he chose free agency instead and returned to the Phillies organization.
Left handed pitcher Kirby Snead has signed a minor league deal with the Phillies as well. The 31 year old was the 10th round draft selection of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2016 draft from the University of Florida. He’s appeared in 79 major league games (2021 to 2024) with the Blue Jays, A’s and Mariners. He’s also pitched in 262 minor league games, all but two as a reliever and has a career 3.89 ERA in 309.2 IP. Kirby last pitched in affiliated baseball in 2024 - last season he pitched in the Atlantic League for Staten Island appearing in 37 games (35 IP) posting a 1.80 ERA. He’s a sinker/slider pitcher with the sinker in the 92-94 mph range. He’s scheduled to report to Lehigh Valley on 5/19.
Right handed pitcher Brian Keller (31 yrs old) was the 2016 39th round draft selection of the Yankees from Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He pitched in the minors from 2016 to 2022 appearing in 129 games (91 starts) posting a 3.18 ERA in 554.1 IP last pitching for the Red Sox after being waived by the Yankees. He had Tommy John surgery in late 2023 after playing for the Hanshin Tigers in Japan. He’s attempting to return to action now and has reported to the Player Development Center in Clearwater. His fastball sits in the 90-94 mph range and has a change up, slider and curve as secondaries.
