5/19/21 : Matt Joyce defensive gem

In last evening’s Threshers game OF Matt Joyce played left field in the first appearance of his rehab assignment ( coming back from right calf strain ). He made a leaping catch against the fence in the fifth inning to rob extra bases and then alertly threw to the infield cutoff man Casey Martin who was able to relay a throw to first base and complete a double play on a baserunner who had rounded second base assuming the ball wouldn’t be caught !

The 36 year old veteran showed the young fellas how it’s done 😎. The play was caught in a photo sequence by Mark Wylie ... our outstanding photographer colleague 👍. 1
