5/2/24 : Minor League Roundup

( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 7 (12-15) Worcester 1 (13-16)

Worcester, MA - Polar Park

Summary :

Kody Clemens and Jordan Luplow walked in the first inning.  Darick Hall singled to.  Weston Wilson singled to score two runs.

Worcester scored a run in the second inning on a walk and double.

Matt Kroon and Esteban Quiroz walked in the 4th inning.  Kroon scored on a single by Aramis Garcia.  Cal Stevenson put down a sacrifice bunt to move Quiroz and Garcia up a base, Kody Clemens singled to score Quiroz.  Darick Hall hit a three run home run.

At Bat : 7 R, 6 H, 6 BB, 11 K’s

Darick Hall had two hits (single & HR) and three RBIs.  Kody Clemens singled, walked, had an RBI and scored twice.

On The Hill : 1 R, 6 H, 9 BB, 9 K’s

Michael Mercado pitched 2.2 innings -  1 R, 2 H, 5 BB, 2 K’s - 63 pitches - 32 strikes.   Tyler McKay pitched 2/3 of an inning, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 K’s.  Taylor Lehman struck out the only two batters he faced.  David Parkinson was very good - 3.2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s - 51 pitches - 33 strikes.  Griff McGarry pitched 1.1 innings, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K.

Former Phillie Nick Pivetta started for Worcester on a rehab assignment.

WOOSOX WOES: coming into tonight’s game since scoring seven-runs in the last of the ninth on Opening Night against the WooSox to win, the 'Pigs have lost four straight games to them. Additionally, the 'Pigs have only held a lead against the WooSox since winning on Opening Night for one-half inning (leading 2-0 after the top of the first on Tuesday). Summary :

Justin Crawford singled to lead off the bottom of the first, Otto Kemp walked.  They moved up a base on a ground out by Leandro Pineda.  Jordan Dissin singled to score two runs.

Jhon Diaz homered for Bowling Green in the second inning.

Erick Brito and Cade Fergus walked in the 2nd inning, Justin Crawford beat out a bunt for a single to load the bases.  Brito scored on a ground out by Otto Kemp.

Bowling Green scored one run in the third inning on a walk and triple.

William Bergolla walked in the 4th, Erick Brito singled, Bergolla moved to third base on a wild pitch.  Brito stole second base.  Justin Crawford grounded out on a high chopper to score Bergolla.

Cade Fergus singled in the 6th, advanced to second on a balk and scored on a single by Justin Crawford.

William Bergolla singled in the 8th, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Erick Brito.

Bowling Green scored three runs in the 9th on two singles, a walk, double and groundout.

On The Hill : 5 R, 11 H, 6 BB, 10 K’s

Estibenzon Jimenez pitched five innings, 2 R, 6 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s - 83 pitches - 52 strikes.  Jack Dallas pitched 1.1 innings, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s.  Andrew Walling pitched 1.2 innings, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s.  Chuck King pitched an inning - 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K.

At Bat : 6 R, 10 H, 5 BB, 9 K’s

Justin Crawford had three hits (singles), two RBIs and two stolen bases.  Erick Brito had two hits (singles), a walk, RBI and stolen base.  William Bergolla singled and walked twice.  Jordan Dissin singled and posted two RBIs.

Defensive Note :

Otto Kemp played his first professional game at first base tonight.

The Newest BlueClaw-RHP Trey Dillard has joined the BlueClaws from Clearwater, where he gave up three earned runs in eight innings with 11 strikeouts and five walks.  Dillard signed with the Phillies as a non-drafted free agent last year from Texas A&M.  He previously pitched at Missouri. - Media Notes

Summary :

Nikau Pouaka-Grego doubled in the second inning, he scored on a single by Dakota Kotowski.

Bennett Lee hit a two run home run for Lakeland in the second inning.  They scored a 4th inning run on four singles.

Nikau Pouaka-Grego walked in the ninth, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Luis Caicuto.  Trent Farquhar and Keaton Anthony walked.  Jordan Viars came up clutch, he drove a double to score two runs!  Bryson Ware singled to score another, Viars was thrown out at third on the play to end the inning.

A triple, walk and wild pitch scored a run for Lakeland in the bottom of the ninth.

On The Hill : 4 R, 11 H, 1 BB, 10 K’s

Braydon Tucker pitched well - 6 innings, 3 R, 7 H, 0 BB, 6 K’s - 76 pitches - 56 strikes.  Paxton Thompson pitched two innings,  0 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s.  Chase Hopewell pitched an inning, 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s.

At Bat :  5 R, 10 H, 5 BB, 10 K’s

Trent Farquhar and Keaton Anthony each had two hits (singles) and walked twice.  Bryson Ware had two hits (singles).  Jordan Viars and Nikau Pouaka-Grego doubled.

System Transactions :

Lehigh Valley : Phillies announced RHP Ricardo Pinto (DFA’d on 4/28) cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A.

Clearwater : RHP Ethan Chenault has been placed on the 7-day Injured List (retroactive to 5/1)
