5/24/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 11 (23-23) Buffalo 9 (22-25)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Buffalo scored twice in the first inning on a home run by Davis Schneider.


Weston Wilson walked in the second inning, stole second and third base and scored on a groundout.


Three singles, a walk, passed ball and wild pitch scored three runs for Buffalo in the fourth inning.


Jake Cave hit a two run home run in the fifth inning.


Two singles, three walks and a steal of home plate scored two runs for Buffalo in the sixth inning.


Drew Ellis walked in the bottom of the 6th, advanced on a balk and scored on a two base fielding error by Buffalo’s left fielder on which Jhailyn Ortiz reached.


Esteban Quiroz walked, went to third when Aramis Garcia doubled in the seventh inning and scored on a single by Simon Muzziotti.  Garcia scored on a single by Drew Ellis.  Weston Wilson singled to score two runs.


Buffalo loaded the bases with walks and no outs on the eighth inning.  A sac fly scored a run.  Wynton Bernard doubled to score a run.


Jake Cave doubled in the bottom of the ninth and scored on a single by Drew Ellis.  Weston Wilson homered for the walk off win!


On the Hill :


Michael Plassmeyer started and went four innings, five runs on five hits and four walks.  Hans Crouse pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Trey Cobb pitched one and one third scoreless innings including stranding three inherited runners.  Andrew Bellatti pitched a perfect ninth inning.


At the Bat :


Jake Cave had three hits (two doubles & HR).  Weston Wilson had two hits (single & HR) and four RBIs. Drew Ellis had two singles.  Esteban Quiroz and Aramis Garcia doubled.

Summary :


Oliver Dunn doubled in the second inning and scored on a home run by Matt Kroon.


Harrisburg scored a run in the fifth on a walk, stolen base and RBI single.


Jackson Cluff hit a two run home run for Harrisburg in the seventh inning.


Harrisburg loaded the bases on two singles and a walk in the 8th inning, Frankie Tostado hit a grand slam.


On the Hill :


Griff McGarry was very good, he started and pitched four scoreless innings, three hits, two walks and three strikeouts - 56 pitches - 33 strikes.  Cristian Hernandez pitched two innings, three others followed, Keylan Killgore threw a scoreless frame.


Web Gem :


Catcher Max McDowell threw a runner out at second attempting to steal in the fourth inning to complete a strike em out throw em out double play.


At the Bat :


Johan Rojas and Oliver Dunn each had two hits, both singled and doubled.  Matt Kroon homered.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore (19-19) Aberdeen (19-21) - Doubleheader

Aberdeen, MD - Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium


Game One : Jersey Shore 12 Aberdeen 10


Summary :


Jackson Holiday reached on a fielding error for Aberdeen in the first inning, he advanced to second on a walk and scored on a single by Hudson Haskin.  Judd Fabian doubled to score a run.


Kendall Simmons tripled in the second inning, he scored on a sac fly by Rixon Wingrove.  Caleb Ricketts hit a home run over the right field wall to tie the score.


Jackson Holiday doubled in the third inning and scored on a double by Hudson Haskinfor Aberdeen.  Two walks followed to load the bases.  A sac fly scored a run.


Aberdeen scored four in the fourth inning on two singles, a walk, a run scoring hit batter, two run double by Jud Fabian and an RBI single.


Jersey Shore answered with four runs in the fifth inning.   Nick Ward singled and two walks followed to load the bases.  Marcus Lee Sang singled to score Ward.  Casey Martin walked to score a run, Leandro Pineda singled to score two runs.


Aberdeen scored twice in the bottom of the fifth as they loaded the bases on a walk and two singles, a wild pitch allowed both runs to score.


Jared Carr walked in the 6th inning, went to third on a single by Nick Ward and scored on a passed ball.  Caleb Ricketts walked, he and Ward scored on a double by Marcus Lee Sang (his 4th hit of the game).  Casey Martin doubled to score Lee Sang.  Leandro Pineda was hit by a pitch, both he and Martin moved up on a passed ball.  A wild pitch scored Martin.


The BlueClaws loaded the bases in the seventh with three walks. A run scored on a groundout.


On the Hill :


Alex Garbrick opened and pitched the first two innings, two unearned runs on two hits.  Five pitchers followed and threw an inning each, Jace Vines pitched a scoreless frame. Orion Kerkering closed it with a scoreless seventh inning striking out two batters.


At the Bat :


Marcus Lee Sang had four hits (three singles & double) and three RBIs.  Nick Ward had two hits and walked once.  Casey Martin doubled and walked twice, Kendall Simmons tripled and walked once, Caleb Ricketts homered and walked twice.  Jared Carr walked twice.   Every batter in the lineup reached base at least once.



Game Two : Aberdeen 4 Jersey Shore 3


Summary :


Kendall Simmons walked in the first inning and Caleb Ricketts singled.  They both scored on a triple by Marcus Lee Sang.


Aberdeen scored two runs in the bottom of the first on a walk and two doubles (Jud Fabian & Dylan Beavers).


Casey Martin hit a home run in the fourth inning.


A walk, single and wild pitch scored a run for Aberdeen in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Another run scored on a ground out.


On the Hill :


Jon Duplantier pitched three innings in his first rehab start, two runs, three hits, two walks, five strikeouts.  Carlos Betancourt pitched two innings.  Carlos Francisco pitched a scoreless inning.


At the Bat :


Marcus Lee Sang tripled, Casey Martin homered.

Florida State League ( Low A )  Clearwater 6 (31-10) St Lucie 2 (10-31) - rain shortened - seven innings

Port St Lucie, FL - Clover Park


Summary :


An 11 AM game time start.


Clearwater loaded the bases in the second inning on a single (Chad Castillo), hit batter and walk.  Freylin Minyety singled to score two runs.


St Lucie scored two runs in the third inning on two walks, two singles and a sac fly.


Erick Brito walked in the third inning and advanced to third base on a wild pitch.  Bryan Rincon walked, Ricardo Rosario singled to score Brito. Jordan Viars hit a blooper down the left field line for a single to load the bases, he had smoked two baseballs in his first two AB’s but they were caught.  Chad Castillo was hit by a pitch to force in a run.  Cade Fergus singled to center field to score two runs.


The game went into rain delay shortly after the seventh inning completed.  It was called final at around 1:30 PM


On the Hill :


Gabriel Cotto started and went three innings.  Jonh Henriquez pitched two scoreless innings, no hits, one walk and three strikeouts.  Alex Rao pitched two scoreless innings, only one hit allowed and struck out three batters.


At the Bat :


The team had five hits and three walks, Cade Fergus had two RBIs.


Defensive Gem :


First baseman Cole Moore climbed the ladder in the 6th inning to snare a hard line drive for an out.

5/23/23 : Nationals 5 Phillies Red 4 (6-5-1)


Nolan Beltran had two hits including an RBI, Juan Villavicencio singled and walked three times.  Eduardo Tait and Victor Cardoza each singled.  Adilson Peralta pitched three scoreless innings allowing three hits and a walk while striking out four batters.


5/23/23 : Angels 5 Phillies White 3 (7-3-2)


Darium Gutierrez doubled, Starlyn Caba, Yoangel Ramos, Fernando Hernandez and Yhoan Escolona each singled.  Carlos Millan pitched two scoreless innings, three hits and one walk, he struck out two batters.

Lehigh Valley : RHP Andrew Bellatti optioned from Philadelphia, INF Esteban Quiroz reinstated from 7 Day IL, RHP McKinley Moore placed on 7 Day IL,  C Vito Friscia placed on the Development List
