International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley (40-16) Norfolk (20-35) - doubleheader

Norfolk, VA - Harbor Park


Game One : Lehigh Valley 5 Norfolk 4 - eight innings


Scoring Summary :


Cal Stevenson and Payton Henry singled in the second inning, Stevenson scored when Erick Brito grounded into a 4-6-3 double play.


Vimael Machin hit a two run home run for Norfolk in the third inning.  A walk and double scored a run for them in the fourth inning. Two walks, a single and ground out scored a fifth inning run.


Christian Arroyo singled in the sixth, advanced on a ground out and scored on a single by Payton Henry.


Rodolfo Castro doubled to lead off the seventh inning, Gabriel Rincones Jr walked. Otto Kemp singled to score Castro.  Christian Arroyo doubled to score Rincones Jr.


The game went into extra innings.


Oscar Mercado was the placed runner to open the 8th inning, Cal Stevenson put down a sacrifice bunt to move him to third base. Payton Henry singled to score him.


At Bat : 5 R, 11 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s


Christian Arroyo had three hits (two singles & double). Payton Henry had three singles and two RBIs. Otto Kemp and Cal Stevenson each had two hits. Kemp and Rodolfo Castro doubled.


On The Hill : 4 R, 8 H, 4 BB, 8 K’s

Scoring Summary :


Cal Stevenson singled in the second inning, stole second, went to third on a throwing error and scored when Oscar Mercado reached on an error.


In the third inning Otto Kemp hit his 13th home run of the season. Buddy Kennedy singled in the third inning, Gabriel Rincones Jr walked. Christian Arroyo singled to score Kennedy.


Rodolfo Castro doubled in the fourth and scored on a single by Justin Crawford.


Three singles scored a run for Norfolk in the sixth inning.


Justin Crawford singled in the seventh inning, stole second, went to third on a throwing error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Otto Kemp.


At Bat : 5 R, 10 H, 1 BB, 6 K’s


Justin Crawford had three hits (singles) and two stolen bases, Otto Kemp homered, he had two RBIs. Buddy Kennedy had two hits (singles) and Rodolfo Castro doubled.

A single, double, throwing error (shortstop Aidan Miller) and single scored three runs for Erie in the fourth inning.


Alex Binelas tripled in the fifth inning, he scored on a sacrifice fly by Leandro Pineda.


Eliezer Alfonzo hit a three run home run for Erie in the sixth inning. Carlos Mendoza hit a two run home run. Thayron Liranzo went back to back.  They scored a run in the seventh on a double and throwing error by first baseman Keaton Anthony.


A walk, single and sacrifice fly scored a run for Erie in the 8th inning.


At Bat : 1 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s


Aidan Miller and Keaton Anthony each had two hits (single & double).

Putting the Fight in  Fightins : Reading’s come-from-behind win on Friday night was the second time this week, and fourth time this season the Fightin Phils won a game when trailing entering the ninth inning. The other instances were May 25 at Portland, along with April 8 and 13 at Somerset. It was the first time they won a game when trailing after eight innings at home this year. This comes after the R-Phils won just once in 2024 when trailing after eight innings. Ironically, that lone instance was Sept.

Four singles scored two runs for Greenville in the sixth inning.


Brooks Brannon hit a two run home run for Greenville in the eighth inning.

Five singles, a double and sacrifice fly scored five runs for Dunedin in the bottom of the fifth.


Clearwater loaded the bases in the ninth inning on a double by Brady Day and two hit batters (Carter Mathison & Joel Dragoo). Nikau Pouaka-Grego grounded out - a run scored. A wild pitch allowed Mathison to score.
