The IronPigs led the 1st half by 7 games with 14 to play, they went 3-10 over their next 13 games while Jacksonville posted an 11-2 record to overtake them and win the first half playoff title.
Keaton Anthony was 9 for 19 (.474) with three doubles, he has a 14 game hitting streak including his time at Reading where he’s 21 for 58 (.362) dating back to June 6th including six doubles and a home run - unfortunately he was placed on the seven day IL on Sunday with an abductor strain. Rodolfo Castro went 5 for 16 (.313), Rafael Lantigua 4 for 14 (.286) and Gabriel Rincones Jr posted a .583 OBP - five walks, one towering HR, one HBP in 12 plate appearances.
Eastern League (AA) : Reading (25-42)
Reading was 2-4 hosting Hartford (Rockies affiliate). Caleb Ricketts hit two home runs and drove in three runs on Tuesday. RH Gunner Mayer pitched two scoreless frames in relief on Wednesday and two more on Sunday. Alex Binelas hit two home runs on Thursday. Hendry Mendez hit for the cycle on Friday! - single, double, triple & home run with three RBIs and three runs scored,he also stole a base. RH Chuck King pitched six innings on Saturday (two runs) - Felix Reyes had three hits (single, double & HR) with two RBIs and three runs scored. Five players had two hits each in the game including Aidan Miller (single & triple) who returned to action after a ten game absence. RH Estibenzon Jimenez made his Reading debut on Sunday.
Outfielder Hendry Mendez hit for the cycle on Friday. Dating back to 2005 (as far back as MLB’s research tool keeps MiLB stats), no R-Phil has hit a cycle. Records prior to 2005 show no prior cycles were ever hit by an R-Phil, but data is incomplete. But, it is beleived that Mendez now holds the distinction of the first cycle in R-Phils history, dating back to 1967. Hendry was 7 for 17 (.412) for the week. Alex Binelas was 9 for 24 (.375) during the series with two home runs. Felix Reyes went 6 for 18 (.333) with a double and home run. Caleb Ricketts hit two home runs during the week.
South Atlantic League (High A) : Jersey Shore (1-2, 26-40)

RH reliever Jose Pena Jr made two scoreless appearances in the series - he pitched three innings in total allowing just one hit - on the season he’s posted a 4-1 record, five saves, a 0.71 ERA and a .071 WHIP in 25.1 IP with 23 K’s and 7 walks - Jose is just 21 years old and was the club’s 6th round draft selection in the 2021 draft out of Tampa Prep HS in Tampa, Florida. He is an energetic young man who’s exuberance shines thru, always one of the first to applaud when his team is doing well. Jose has a power curve/slider that is a swing and miss pitch, gets great movement and spin - it is an out maker that compliments a 92-96 mph fastball. He trains in the off-season in the Dominican, has always had great movement and spin on his pitches - has shown this season an ability to harness the command/control that had been lacking before - the stuff is there. He’s still growing into his body, could become a very good prospect once that happens and he continues to emotionally mature/develop.
Dante Nori went 9 for 24 (.375) during the series with a .464 OBP in 28 PA’s. Avery Owusu-Asiedu was 6 for 19 (.316).
