Draft and UDFA ( Undrafted Free Agents )
MLB instituted a 180 stateside minor league player limit for this season. However there is a grace period granted for drafted players that sign contracts … they do not count against the 180 player limit until they are either activated and appear in a sanctioned Minor League game else till the end of the Minor League season. In other words they can be signed and workout at the complex and not count against the 180 roster limit until they appear in a game. For the UDFA’s there is a 15 day grace period after they officially sign a contract before they count towards the 180 player limit. To date I’ve identified 10 UDFA’s the Phillies intend to sign.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball
