Player Development Center Training - Carpenter Complex

We saw new signees Keaton Anthony, Zach Arnold, Jared Thomas and A.J. Shaver take their first outdoor BP this morning on Ashburn Field.  First impressions are that Anthony has a powerful swing, looks like he can drive the baseball, quick to the ball and minimal hand movement.  Arnold hit multiple line drives to the middle of the field, Thomas has a compact easy swing from the left side and Shaver also looks like a fella who can drive the baseball, not as still in the box but quick hands thru the zone.  Long ways to go but fun to see how first looks pan out 🤓.

Also in the hitting group were Caleb Ricketts and Nikau Pouaka-Grego.  Both are making good progress towards returning to game action from the rehab group.  Nikau belted a home run in yesterday’s live BP session turning on a 95 mph fastball.  Caleb caught that session.

Multiple new players took fielding practice on Schmidt Field, the four players mentioned above along with Lou Albrecht, Aidan Miller, Kehden Hettinger, Devin Saltiban, TayShaun Walton, Avery Owusa-Asiedu, Pierce Bennett, Trent Farquhar and Bryson Ware.

Pitchers Brandon Beckell, Hunter Loyd, Ethan Chenault, Luke Russo, Casey Steward, Cam Brown, Jake Eddington, George Klassen, Trey Dillard, Chase Hopewell and Brayden Tucker began their throwing programs.

System Transactions :

Lehigh Valley : RHP Shaun Anderson assigned to roster. 1B Darick Hall and 3B Drew Ellis activated.  RHP Seranthony Dominguez assigned on rehab by Phillies.  RHP Noah Song assigned on rehab by Phillies.

Jersey Shore : INF Kendall Simmons returned from his minor league rehab assignment and reinstated from the 7-day IL.  IF Freylin Minyety placed on the Development List.
